- I'd like to see some sort of link explaining what it means to "become a medium". Does one become a medium, or does one claim to become a medium? As it stands, this hook is POV. In fact, the whole article seems to be: "During the 1920s his mother, Grace Reuter, developed psychic powers of automatic writing and began to receive spirit messages." - Mark 13:55, 28 November 2008 (UTC)

and my reply there:
- I copied this comment to the article's talk page for reference, but do not feel competent to respond to the question of whether or not these psychic claims were valid. I take it that within the expressions 'became a medium' and 'received spirit messages' are already contained whatever doubts about absolute veracity these terms always comprehend. I do not know if there is EVER such a thing as a true spirit message or a true medium, but I am sure that what Mrs Reuter was doing was maintained by her to be, and under investigation by others supposing it to be, the work of a medium receiving spirit messages.
I accept the point of the above comment, but do not feel qualified to respond to it. The sources indicate that that is what she claimed and appeared to be doing, and those who investigated it considered her work of high evidential value. I am not in a position to reappraise their evaluation, but if anyone else is I hope they will respond to Mark's point. I neither believe nor disbelieve, therefore I state as I find. I take it that scepticism towards psychic power is also a point of view, and that we are not in the business of trying to prove it either way? - Eebahgum (talk) 17:51, 28 November 2008 (UTC)
