Removal of Dr. from names

I have removed the "Dr." title from names in the article as per Wikipedia:Manual of Style (biographies)#Academic titles. If relevant to the article, their academic qualification can be discussed elsewhere. ~ Danelo 17:34, 27 August 2007 (UTC)

  • I have no problem with that. I am just trying to update this page and bring it up to date as it has been neglected for such a growing university. It is becoming a work in progress and will continue to be edited for content. Jim09091 17:42, 27 August 2007 (UTC)

Google issue

It should be noted that for some reason Google does not list this school as a feature on its map. Nearly every college/university in the country is listed, as are malls and even large shopping centers. For example, look up Burlington on the map. The University of Vermont is clearly noted on the map. I live in Florida and will likely be attending this school so it annoys me. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Blaze33541 (talkcontribs) 09:29, 14 April 2009 (UTC)

Almost all of the text in this article's History section was copied verbatim from the FGCU website (here: [1]), and as such has been removed as per Wikipedia:Copyrights. --Danelo 19:22, 29 June 2007 (UTC)

that is no longer the case I rewrote the entire History section of FGCU; and thank you to everyone who has been making contributions. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.101.103.29 (talkcontribs)

The contributions are great but to the people adding to the article need to read and follow the guidelines to Wikipedia. A cleanup is needed. ♫ Douglasr007 (talk) 21:57, 22 September 2009 (UTC)

Doug I added most of the history contributions and added additional info in a number of areas as an anonymous contributor. This article is a work in progress. Let me know where you think we can improve. I bet if we work together we can improve this article dramatically. FrankyP

So far, references need to have a substance for them to be added to the article. I might have to change the whole "Off-campus" section since the references don't mention anything and only direct to the site in question. I'll try to give pointers to what need improvements in the article. Make sure to sign comments on talk pages with ~~~~ but you can change the way your signature is made by going here and looking at the "Signature" section. Only do this for talk pages and not articles. ♫ Douglasr007 (talk) 01:29, 24 September 2009 (UTC)

Article Improvement

I added the first picture. FrankyP. Anybody think the residence life section should be a sub category under the student life section?

Thank you to blaze for adding so many good pictures! FrankyP

Notable alumni - Don Carman

I was unable to provide a reference to verify Don Carman was an alumni. I found information showing he was an alumni of the University of Oklahoma instead Baseball Almanac. Please provide source showing Carman's relationship with Florida Gulf Coast University if you have it available. Thanks!--Fraulein451 (talk) 02:53, 29 November 2012 (UTC)

Can someone please give me an email address so I can send them pictures of the school? I can't upload my account isn't old enough. — Preceding unsigned comment added by FGCU (talkcontribs) 13:35, 26 March 2013 (UTC)

A Wikipedia article is not a promotional brochure. This article needs substantial trimming and should reflect the notable information about the subject that warrants inclusion in an encyclopedia. Seriously the vendors at the food court, this is not encyclopedic. All content should be based on reliable secondary sources. Promotional, trivial, primary sourced or unsourced information has to go. - - MrBill3 (talk) 07:06, 23 January 2015 (UTC)

Location

In spite of the zip code, this map shows that the campus is a considerable distance outside of the city limits. In fact, it's right up against the village limits of Estero instead. The entry should reflect this fact.Inkan1969 (talk) 00:49, 14 November 2021 (UTC)

The zip code 33965 was specifically created for FGCU. [2][3] They purposely stated the city as Fort Myers even though it's near Estero (which only became a village a few years ago). – The Grid (talk) 21:57, 14 November 2021 (UTC)
