Law school statistics and rankings
[edit]It is important that statistics come from notable sources and are used correctly. The most notable source for law school rankings come from US News and World Report [1] . However, even these ranking are criticized because of how the rankings are established, for example 40% of each school's score comes from its fame and notoriety judged by lawyers, judges, and law school faculty. [2]. Law school data from the blog the Faculty Lounge is another source of data I have seen on Wikipedia. Whether or not the data is notable and peer reviewed enough to be included on Wikipedia is an important question. Another important question is whether the data is being used correctly by the Wikipedia editor. Professor's from the Faculty Lounge actually claim their data should not be used as a way to rank law schools because a single metric does not explain all of the employment factors associated with each school. Clarifying introductory page
[edit]Hello Fellow Wikipedians!
I have modified the introductory paragraph to this page. The previous paragraph was overly long making it too complex. In addition, the introductory page was not consistent with the kind of page other law schools have. I also added information about the mission of the law school. Lastly, I removed some information about the other Infilaw schools for two reasons. First, when an entity is owned by a holding company, it is very rare to see extensive detail about the holdings of that company even when those holdings are in the same area of business. Second, no information is lost because through this streamlining because the link to the InfiLaw page remains and includes that information.
Thank you and it is an honor and a privilege to work with all of you, BlackLetterLawyer!
Adding a Rankings Section
[edit]Hi All,
I just adjusted this page. Most law schools have a "rankings" heading. This just had a "Bar Preparation" heading. So I changed it to a Rankings with Bar Preparation under it as a sub-heading. I then added some of the kinds of things that I have found listed under other law school's rankings pages. I also found the section on moot court disjointed. So I shortened it--this isn't a problem as the same (and more) information is in the moot court subsection of the Rankings section and that subsection is more readable than the old moot court section. I will like come back in a few days and reorder the subsections and possibly add some more types of information that I find on the other law school pages.
