1 Peter 3:19

[edit]

Paramahansa Yogananda continually references the human soul and its reincarnation in his teachings. The title of his poem, My Prisoner, is a direct reference to the well-known concept of Spirits in Prison (see Etymology section). Spirit in Prison translated from the original Greek means the human soul and its attendent mystical guardian. Isobel Chaveh (talk) 11:07, 6 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hidden Meanings

[edit]

Swami Yogananda taught his earliest disciples the concepts of soul and reincarnation; his quote "You are walking on the earth as in a dream. Our world is a dream within a dream; you must realize that to find God is the only goal, the only purpose, for which you are here. For Him alone you exist. Him you must find." is, in part, an allegorical reference to the unenlightened human mind living within a world created by the limited abilities and senses of his body.

The complete meaning of this most-often quoted verse of Yogananda's, as well as 1 Peter 3:19, becomes apparent when coupled with other early, once well-known concepts of which original meaning has now become veiled. Isobel Chaveh (talk) 11:07, 6 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
