GA review – see WP:WIAGA for criteria

It may take two days for me to complete my initial review. I will note/pass items as I go along. You don't need to wait for me to finish to begin addressing them. Most of my comments are open for discussion, so feel free to question anything. Once complete, I will be claiming points for this review in the 2017 WikiCup.

  1. Is it well written?
    A. The prose is clear and concise, and the spelling and grammar are correct:
    Lead
For clarity, Barry Allen and Oliver Queen should be introduced as "Barry Allen/Flash" and "Oliver Queen/Arrow"
     Done - Brojam (talk) 21:10, 21 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
    Plot
"a task force to hunt down the Flash." - surely there's a better word/phrase than hunt down? Would capture or arrest work? This sentence would also benefit from the addition of a motive - "capture the Flash because..."
Done Added more detail and moved sentence after robbery since that's how it occurs in the episode. - Brojam (talk) 19:26, 21 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Flash and Barry Allen link to different pages? This is especially confusing since the two have not yet been identified as the same person in this article.
Yes, since the Flash has appeared as several characters in comics and even on this show. I will fix the lead to specify this. Also, it is specified in the Cast and characters section that they are the same person. - Brojam (talk) 19:26, 21 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
    metahuman should link to metahuman.
     Done - Brojam (talk) 19:26, 21 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
"...shows up and uses..." - why not just "uses"? This sentence should also specify that the bank is in Central City.
     Done Good point. - Brojam (talk) 19:26, 21 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
"Oliver Queen informs Barry Allen that he and his team..." - I think this would read better as "Meanwhile, Oliver Queen and his team..." It avoids the ambiguous pronoun and, combined with the following sentence, will make it more clear that Flash is pursuing Bivolo.
I've added some detail before explaining when Oliver shows up. I think it would be better to keep it as "Oliver informs Barry..." since this is how it happens. We do not see Oliver and his team actually investigating before they meet Barry. - Brojam (talk) 19:26, 21 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
"Barry and Oliver agree to team-up and catch each other's targets. Barry decides to go after Bivolo by himself." Um? These two sentences don't seem to agree. Is there a detail missing?
Done Added part about training. - Brojam (talk) 19:26, 21 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
"colored strobe light to reset..." should link to strobe light.
     Done - Brojam (talk) 19:26, 21 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
"...after he was beaten by an enraged Flash..." This part should be mentioned chronologically.
Done and added more detail. - Brojam (talk) 19:26, 21 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
"Barry confirms Oliver's belief that he has a lot to learn." Ambiguous pronoun. Where did this belief come from? Did it have anything to do with Barry going after Bivolo alone? Prior meetings?
Done Fixed and in relation to part about training. - Brojam (talk) 19:26, 21 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
"Oliver advises him to stay away from Iris West..." because?
     Done - Brojam (talk) 19:26, 21 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
"Iris decides to end her support of the Flash." because? - but really, Iris was first mentioned in the previous sentence. Does her support or lack of it need to be mentioned?
     Done Removed. - Brojam (talk) 19:26, 21 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
"Oliver asks Barry's team to keep his alter ego a secret." Ambiguous pronoun. If it's Barry's identity, why?
     Done Fixed. - Brojam (talk) 19:26, 21 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
" A new metahuman able to manipulate fire appears in Central City." - seems extraneous.
The character that appears is important to the season. His appearance is mentioned in the last sentence of the Development section as being important to the rest of the season. - Brojam (talk) 19:26, 21 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
"Flashbacks to Hong Kong show Oliver learning..." - I think this would read better as "In a flashback set in Hong Kong, Oliver learns..."
     Done - Brojam (talk) 19:26, 21 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
"...Oliver and Roy Harper track down the..." - suggest locate or investigate in place of track down. "...but they only find..." - suggest "...where they find..."
     Done - Brojam (talk) 19:26, 21 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
"Oliver's extreme interrogation methods..." - Who did he interrogate? Lyla?
     Done Added. - Brojam (talk) 19:26, 21 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
"Lyla accepts Diggle's marriage proposal" - seems extraneous.
     Done Removed. - Brojam (talk) 19:26, 21 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
    Cast and Characters
It seems odd to have a table for some actors but a list for others. I understand the division, but is there no way to include the guests in the table with a third category, like "special guest", or designate some as "guest from Arrow"? I'm open to other suggestions and/or a link showing other articles treat this situation in a similar way.
This format is used for all the Arrowverse crossover events ("Invasion!" and "Heroes Join Forces"). You can see some of the discussion about the format at User talk:AlexTheWhovian/Archive 17 § Help with a draft, if interested, where it was agreed that only characters who appear in multiple episodes would be included in the table. Also, if we included the other characters with something like "special guest" as you suggested, it would mislead the reader into thinking they somehow have a more important role than the other guest, which is not the case. The table is really about the shared characters in the crossover in addition to the series regular from each show. - Brojam (talk) 20:48, 21 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Expanding on this a bit, if we to do "normal" Main, Recurring and Guest headings with each actor in prose, it would not be overly accurate for the Main listing, since the Main actors of one series are guests in the other. Hence the table format for Main actors was determined to be the best format to use. Also, since there are no guests who appear across both episodes, we can remove the "recurring" from the heading as it stands now. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 22:00, 21 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the link and explanation. I no longer consider this an issue.
    Production
"the large amount of work needed " Are there any details about what the work was? Schedule coordination? Storytelling work? Are the shows filmed in different locations? If details aren't available, that's ok.
The exact work was not specified even though it was certainly about schedule coordination since both series have to continue filming their individual shows while they also film the crossover. But I could not find a source explaining that this was the reason for the postponement. Brojam (talk) 02:57, 22 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Done Found a source and added information to first paragraph of Development - Brojam (talk) 03:37, 22 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
"one of the biggest surprises for Arrow of all time" - I can't tell from the plot summary what this surprise was. If it's not vital to the summary, it could be included breifly in this section.
     Done added - Brojam (talk) 02:57, 22 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
"another secret would be revealed in the final moments of The Flash episode" - I assume this is the fire character mentioned? If so, that plot bit could be moved to this section and expanded upon.
Done Added info to this section but kept it in the plot as well. - Brojam (talk) 02:57, 22 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
"because of the special effects involved when fighting against someone with superpowers for the first time" this is clunky because of the dangling modifier. Are special effects not different the second time you fight someone with superpowers? I suggest splitting the sentence in two after the word nights and rewriting the second half with something like, "Because this was the first time Stephen Arnell's character fought someone with superpowers, he had to change the way he performed stunts to accommodate the special effects."

    Reception
Brian Lowry noted "it was unlikely to boost the shared audience" - out of curiosity, did the numbers later in the season confirm/refute this? Either way, it may be worth noting at the end of the ratings section with a comment like "After the crossover aired, later episodes returned to regular viewing numbers."
Actually, The Flash rose in viewers and dipped only 6%, while Arrow was up from the episode before the crossover. I'll find sources and add the info. - Brojam (talk) 13:57, 22 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
     Done - Brojam (talk) 14:46, 22 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
The first sentence in the Arrow subsection is very long. I suggest turning the ellipsis into a period and restricting the second half to stand alone.
     Done - Brojam (talk) 13:51, 22 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
"DC Comics' long-running team-up comic". " The quotation after comic doesn't have a mate.
