similar to the Print Gallery (M. C. Escher) image that has its geometric novelty at the center also reminiscent of scandinavian crusaders cross flags as well as that active rotation symbol on the Donovan album cover that some Germans liked — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.185.2.34 (talk) 00:15, 7 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Upside down

[edit]

I don't know if anyone noticed (certainly not whoever hoisted the flag the day its picture was taken for the article), but the flying flag in the photo is flying upside down per the illustration on the page. Perhaps the picture a) could be removed or b) be kept to illustrate that the flag is often flown upside down due to the design (of which I don't know (have only been to Portland once in my life and didn't notice the flag) but can conjecture based on this photo.) --Canuckguy 04:03, 9 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It might not be upside down. If the flag is double-sided, it could be a picture of the back of the flag. Not sure. --Another Believer (Talk) 23:21, 1 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It's upside down. I'm not sure what more you expect from people who can't do simple math to determine how tall their flag is. :p Still a lovely flag, just implemented by a poor bureaucracy. 69.76.16.32 (talk) 05:12, 28 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Picture of the previous flag?

[edit]

It would be nice to have one - there's one here: http://www.slate.com/blogs/the_eye/2014/11/12/roman_mars_99_invisible_the_quest_in_portland_oregon_for_a_better_city_flag.html But I don't know the copyright status - I would think that a plain reproduction of a flag couldn't be under copyright, but am not sure.
