[edit]I am happy to try to improve the article. Stats71 (talk) 17:44, 27 September 2011 (UTC)
copyright violation?
[edit]It appears that that virtually this entire article is copied from Solutions: Ringo Financial, starting with the third paragraph on that page "Indexed annuities are a type of fixed annuity which are regulated and distributed in the same manner as fixed annuities. Indexed annuities are a moderately conservative safe money place for retirement dollars."
and continuing verbatim through the last paragraph on that page "In the event of the owner’s (and the annuitant’s in some policies) death, the beneficiary of the contract usually receives any remaining value in the policy, and if the annuity had been annuitized and additional guaranteed payments remained, subsequent annuity payment would be made to the beneficiary at the same intervals the deceased was receiving them until the guaranteed period has expired." which is about 95% of the text on the article page. perhaps the ringo financial article copied this? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.49.36.143 (talk) 20:51, 18 January 2013 (UTC)
This should be taken down: implies Annuities have better insurance than FDIC bank deposits
[edit]And just like your home, auto and health insurance, they are backed 100% by the insurance company up to stated policy limits (which may be higher than FDIC).
This reads like is was taken from an Insurance Salesperson's website. It implies that annuities have better government protection than bank accounts. I so wish the Government would have let AIG go down in the crisis so this would be proven wrong.
I also agree with the above comment that the rest is taken from http://ringofg.com/solutions-3 Ringo is apeing "Safe Money" insurance solutions. He is not a CFP(R)nor he or his firm a Registered Invesmtent Advisor. Not objective, just another insurance saleman pusing Fixed Index Annuities! Nofway (talk) 15:54, 12 December 2013 (UTC)
Merger proposal
[edit]I propose that Equity-indexed annuity be merged into Fixed annuity. An equity-indexed annuity is more commonly called an indexed annuity, according to that article, and the fixed annuity article already overlaps this content when it describes the two types of fixed annuities as being traditional fixed annuities and indexed annuities.Timtempleton (talk) 20:44, 20 February 2015 (UTC)
