The Cribber

[edit]

Several problems with this part of the article: lack of sources, sub-standard English (although I already fixed most of that) and a contradiction of sorts: how can many surfers have attempted to ride the wave if it only occurs randomly every two years? Also, I don't know if the reference to the novel by Horowitz is worth a mention (although it is where I learned about the wave). Vadigor 12:25, 25 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I think the tone isn't quite appropriate in this section:

  • It's not clear what "Many surfers have attempted to ride the wave" means
  • "Just look up the coast..." feels a bit too emotive for an encyclopaedia article
  • The comment about the mass media ("At least three times per year, the mass media spreads half-truths, inconsistencies and plain rubbish about the cribbar.") doesn't seem to be neutral point of view.

I've added an "Inappropriate Tone" tag to this article. I think this could benefit from a rewrite according the WP:TONE guidelines. Djcunning (talk) 00:23, 21 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have re-written the article (hopefully in an encyclopedic tone) and removed the 'Tone' tag. I've also removed the "surf report" links as they fail WP:ELNO. The article still needs additional inline citations so the 'Refimprove' tag should remain for now. Andy F (talk) 07:47, 28 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
