Ending subtitles/translation
[edit]The article lists 3 "mistranslations" in the U.S. release. I just watched the new Dragon Dynasty release, and the English subtitles fix the first two (1. Chen says "I don't know" when asked if he hates the Japanese, and 2. Fumio says the line about the gun and personal development). For the third, Chen states that he's going to be with Mitsuko. Which is the actual correct translation of the original dialogue for the third ? Anyone speak Cantonese? --Fru1tbat (talk) 14:51, 27 October 2008 (UTC)
For your last question, Chen Zhen asks the driver where the fighting with the Japanese will begin. The driver responds that the fighting will start up near Shandong province and Chen Zhen says that is where they should go.
I have added a fourth point about the sign because it is a huge departure from the original script and is a significant homage to Fists of Fury, plus for Chinese readers, it gives the impression that the Japanese general is illiterate since he doesn't even know what he wrote. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.165.50.162 (talk) 23:44, 24 November 2008 (UTC)
Original Research
[edit]Just about every sentence of the "Fist of Fury Vs. Fist of Legend" section is original research. It speaks of the camera angles being exactly the same as the original Jingwumen and how Li jumping roping and adopting a more modern style is a nod to Bruce Lee's own training philosophy. All of these statements need to be sourced. And I don't want to hear the "It's understood" argument from anyone replying to my comments. Something being understood is not what Wikipedia is about (unless its something as universal as the Sun is in the sky or humans can't breath under water). If sources are not provided in a week or two, I'm going to delete the entire section. --Ghostexorcist (talk) 00:04, 29 September 2009 (UTC)

Wrong date for the plot!
[edit]The action takes place in 1914 and not in 1937!
The plot of the movie relies on Huo Yuanjia's death. This martial artist died in 1910.
Also, at the beginning of the movie, it is explain that Japan allied with the United Kingdom and that they are going at war against Germany. The Japanese soldiers, getting aboard the ship with Jet Li, are on their way to besiege the German port of Tsingtao.
The movie takes place in 1914, at the very beginning of WW1!
Yet, imdb and other websites say the action takes place in 1937!!! It must be a mistake made with the international release of the movie. Because, if you check Fist of Fury plot, the action takes place in the early 20th century.

- Yes, I checked again to be sure, the action takes place in 1914. Just read the plot of Fist of Fury (Fist of Legend is a remake): the action takes place in early 20th century Shanghai. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A01:E35:8A91:4CB0:155B:F47D:3B97:2D8F (talk) 00:13, 3 January 2019 (UTC)
- Someone edited the change back to 1937 explaining that: "The Japanese army did not invade Shanghai in the First World War, but rather in the wake of the 'January 28 incident' some fifteen years later. A quick check of other online sources seems to suggest a setting of 1937 in the aftermath of the declaration of war proper between the two nations."
- Yet, the Japanese army does not invade Shanghai in the movie and the beginning of the film clearly states that we are in 1914 (facts: Japan allied with the United Kingdom, death of Huo Yuanjia, and Japan at war against Germany).
- Like Fist of Fury, this remake takes place in the same period: the beginning of the 20th century. This is clearly a chronological error made with the international release, because the Chinese and Japanese wiki pages of the film clearly indicate that the action takes place at the beginning of the 20th century and not in 1937! 2A01:E0A:9D7:3100:7807:CC2D:A4B4:1899 (talk) 09:32, 10 January 2024 (UTC)
