Hello fellow Wikipedians,

I have just added archive links to one external link on Firestorm. Please take a moment to review my edit. You may add {{cbignore}} after the link to keep me from modifying it, if I keep adding bad data, but formatting bugs should be reported instead. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}} to keep me off the page altogether, but should be used as a last resort. I made the following changes:

When you have finished reviewing my changes, please set the checked parameter below to true or failed to let others know (documentation at {{Sourcecheck}}).

How strong is a strong wind?

The article claims "the phenomenon's determining characteristic is a fire with its own storm-force winds from every point of the compass." and cites a surces which says, "PROBLEMS OF FIRE IN NUCLEAR WARFARE (1961) A fire storm is characterized by strong to gale force winds blowing toward the fire everywhere around the fire perimeter and results from the rising column of hot gases over an intense, mass fire drawing in the cool air from the periphery."

How strong is strong? Every fire, even a candle, creates a thermal column so cooler air will rush to the fire. But of course, these currents usually are neither "strong" nor "gale force". And a gale is not necessarily a storm. Pål Jensen (talk) 19:15, 6 May 2016 (UTC)

Impact of Dresden bombing

I think the article is incorrect. As the bombing impacted nearly exclusively the inner city, industrial capacity was not really impacted. Destruction of Dresden main station and some of the tracks in the city may have caused some reduction in transport movement, but the area has a dense grid, so the impact can't have been so huge. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.184.1.17 (talk) 04:32, 8 October 2016 (UTC)

The historical sources mostly agree with you, it was essentially a Harris vanity project that did little strategically. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 129.127.113.230 (talk) 23:30, 26 October 2016 (UTC)

Stalin asked for the Allies to attack targets "in the east". They did. Harris did what he was ordered to.
Dresden was attacked because it had become a hub through-which the German defenders facing the Soviets in the East were being re-supplied and reinforced. After the bombing it no longer was this.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.150.100.249 (talk) 12:08, 18 December 2016 (UTC)

Nuclear weapons in comparison to conventional weapons

The images being both left and right leave little space for the paragraph. They either should all be vertical, or placed in gallery form with the text above and underneath, I think. I have added a {{clear}} for now, but it's probably not ideal in the long term. Thanks, —░]PaleoNeonate█ ⏎ ?ERROR 16:03, 3 May 2017 (UTC)

Hatnotes vs. "see also"

I have reverted some recent changes that moved two entries from the "see also" section to a {{confuse}} hatnote, namely "wildfire" and "fire whirl". The reason given by Ecstatic Electrical on my talk page for "firestorm" is based on the similarity of names and on people possibly confusing the two because a wildfire's destruction might be likened to storm damage, if I understood him correctly. I don't think either necessitates a hatnote. If there were a need for a hatnote, it shouldn't be this one that doesn't tell the hypothetical confused person looking for wildfires without knowing the name whether this is the article they're looking for or not, nor which of the articles that supposedly could be confused with this one is the one they really want.
