BLP tag
[edit]There seems to be some confusion over some recent warring over whether this article needs {{refimprove}} or {{BLP refimprove}}. User:Mais oui! suggests that the BLP tag should only be used where there is a specific BLP issue with the article. In fact, {{refimprove/doc}} specifically states:
For articles about living persons, the more specific template {{BLP sources}} should be used instead.
In an ideal world, these templates would be combined into one, and the stronger wording regarding being careful with content would show up automatically if the template detected that the article were a BLP. However, that isn't possible at present, and as such we need two templates. Regardless, the BLP variant should in general be used over the standard one on BLPs whether there is a specific problem BLP-wise or not. If everyone agrees that the article does indeed need sources, then the {{BLP refimprove}} variant should be restored. I'll do that in a few days unless someone can suggest a good reason to the contrary. Chris Cunningham (user:thumperward) (talk) 13:29, 23 January 2012 (UTC)
- Thank you for confirming that. I had applied what I felt was the most specific tag after I added one source and noticed more were needed. I did explain in the edit summary as I replaced it and I have quoted template text to this user previously. Rather than spend an age on this I just put in the general refimprove one in the end so the need for sources was highlighted even if the most correct tag wasn't able to be inserted.RafikiSykes (talk) 13:41, 23 January 2012 (UTC)
