Article Creation

[edit]

Yes, I am the author of Finnix, but I tried to keep this article as NPOV as possible. Please feel free to clean up if needed. --Fo0bar 09:27, 22 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

GPL license

[edit]

Besides fixing a broken bracket, I revered back to listing "GPL" as the license. While there are software packages in Finnix under other licenses, the collection itself, as well as software developed specifically for Finnix, is licensed under the GPL. Many other Linux distros on Wikipedia list this, actually the only Linux distro infobox I could find that listed "Various" was Fedora Core. Let me know if you disagree with this. --Fo0bar 09:07, 20 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

md5sum cleverness?

[edit]

I found that versions of finnix from 100 and later have cleverly designed md5sum hashes that start with f100, f106, which match the version number. Maybe its just my fascination with numbers but I think it's noteworthy. I'd ask this on the finnix wiki but I'm too lazy to create an account there today... correct. It's known as a vanityhash, and is intentional. In fact, the vanity on finnix releases is 'f100ff', 'f106ff', etc. More information here: http://www.finnie.org/2010/12/11/vanityhash-brute-forcing-hashes-for-fun-and-profit/ --.../Nemo (talkContributions) 14:50, 2 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Date format in table

[edit]

The dates in the table under "Versions" are using the ISO 8601 format (YYYY-MM-DD).[1] May Chealer or another editor state the reason to use this format? Fo0bar's opinion would also be helpful. 84.127.115.190 (talk) 15:34, 21 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
