Election campaign themes
[edit]WP:NPOV: Articles should include all the significant views that have been published by reliable sources on a topic.
Mélencron, In my opinion the removals [1] [2] should be included in the article since topics were included in the election campaign and include reliable references. The article is not neutral if excluding discussions between the candidates. I agree the topics could be under the subtitle election campaign themes. Watti Renew (talk) 12:38, 27 January 2018 (UTC)
Polls
[edit]- Election polls may influence in the election activity and votes. Thus the owner of the research company is significant. [3] Here we can remember that in the previous elections Sauli Niinistö did not report all his election funds as required by the law. This was revealed after 2007 Finnish campaign finance scandal. According to the statement by Sauli Niinistö the KMS election funds were not officially reported since funds were paid directly to the local newspapers. These newspapers were owned by the same conservative Member of Parliament politician that own Taloustutkimus Oy publishing the election polls now. Local newspapers have new owner today. Watti Renew (talk) 12:40, 27 January 2018 (UTC)
- I'm generally of the opinion that the ownership of polling companies is irrelevant, and I don't see a convincing case here to give a mention to it here – is it (the ownership of Taloustutkimus) being mentioned in coverage with regard to this specific election as an actual concern? If not, it just seems to me that it's non-NPOV in a sense in that it's an attempt to cast aspersions upon their veracity. Mélencron (talk) 14:39, 27 January 2018 (UTC)
Arms trade
[edit]- Theme is relevant since arm trade is approved by parliament and underlined by the president. Patria arms trade was published in Swedish newspapers. They found out that Finnish equipment was used in the war between Yemen and Arab Emirates. This confirm the international interest in the theme. Watti Renew (talk) 12:42, 27 January 2018 (UTC)
- Is there recent coverage of this? I couldn't find anything in Swedish news sources, or anything connected to Patria relating to the election; seems WP:UNDUE if little coverage. Mélencron (talk) 14:43, 27 January 2018 (UTC)
Human rights
[edit]- Television debates have included both issues of human rights and YLE debate in television 25.1.2018 included discussion about human rights in China. Panda diplomacy was actual in the election debate since two pandas arrived in Finland in January 2018. Panda diplomacy is claimed to have political nature. Thus Wikipedia should point out Finnish policy in respect to human Rights in China. The fact that election debate did not discuss the death of Liu Xiaobo one of the most important human right activists in China is significant. I point out that a Finnish politician was the first western politicians that visited China after Tiananmen Square protests of 1989. Watti Renew (talk) 12:44, 27 January 2018 (UTC)
- The references you provided don't say anything with regard to the election – I poked around quickly in Finnish sources and there don't seem to be any comments regarding the absence of the Liu Xiaobo issue from the YLE debate, so again this either seems WP:UNDUE or POV pushing, assuming that there's as little coverage of the issue as a Google search (in Finnish) would suggest. I find exactly zero results within the past week (i.e., since the debate happened within the last seven days) mentioning both the YLE debate and Liu Xiaobo. Mélencron (talk) 14:49, 27 January 2018 (UTC)
- Not relevant in this article. Also, the same user, fi:User:Watti, was blocked on the Finnish Wikipedia for pushing the same on the Finnish article. Stryn (talk) 11:11, 28 January 2018 (UTC)
