Underlining a detail

[edit]

For those whom it may concern and those who are curious enough to take a peek at this page, may the following be made clear: The airspace violations mentioned on the actual page are not uncommon. They occur frequently, several times a year to be exact. Naturally, these occurrences may be considered to be pure and clean mistakes, navigation errors, or manoeuvers to bypass stormy weather. The issue has been discussed in Finland, and some comedians have cracked jokes about the subject--some nicer, some not. To underline my message: Airspace violations conducted by Russian aircraft in Finnish airspace are not uncommon. In fact, it seems nearly as if the violations are some type of Russian poking, reminding the Finns of their existence. Accidents happen--that's only natural--but this often? Every time by the same party? In this high-tech world, where you barely need to have eyes to get around? Just a thought. Think about it. --93.106.105.35 (talk) 12:54, 27 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Kept its independence

[edit]

I just removed this sentence:

Despite losing territory, this was a small price to pay as Finland was the only nation to keep its independence.

However, I think there's something interesting in there, and it would be a shame to lose it entirely. The "small price to pay" bit violates Wikipedia:ATTRIBUTEPOV, and the statement itself is incorrect because many other countries (Canada? Brazil?) also kept their independence. --Doradus (talk) 11:21, 12 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Finland and Yugoslavia, the reason for their rapid economic growth was the Soviet Union’s policy of treating those states as special economic zones, through which it gained access to technologies and the know-how of the West. Export of such products to the USSR was often prohibited due to their dual purpose. 2001:569:70A5:7000:290C:8F9D:79D9:713E (talk) 01:57, 26 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
