Pouch Included with some game packages?
[edit]I was wondering something and I've looked all over the internet for it and couldn't find it, but what's the deal with some of the game packages including a FFIII DS pouch? I bought mine at Wal-Mart and it came with one but I noticed lately they aren't included with them anymore. Anyone have anymore info on this? If someone does, it should be added to the article and I could add a picture for it too. SmartSped 20:48, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
- That was just a bonus that WM was giving away while supplies lasted. Circuit City had a different offer, an FF3 DS Lite skin. Neither of these were actually part of the game as shipped by the manufacturer, and probably don't belong in the article.
Cutscene Question
[edit]the commercials for this show some pretty high definition cutscenes [characters riding the chocobos, to name one]. Were these scenes rendered specifically for the commercials or does the actual game have cutscenes with quality this high? ARBlackwood 03:44, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
I'm not that far into the game, only a couple hours in. But the commerical is actually taken from the opening cutscene of the game (when you turn it on), which is of the same quality. I don't think the rest of the game has such cutscenes, but I'm not entirely sure. JONJONAUG 15:50, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
- You're correct. The opening movie (can't really call it a cutscene if it's not in the game proper, though) is the only movie in the game. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 69.216.109.103 (talk • contribs).
Why is there no information on gameplay?
[edit]Why is there no information on gameplay? It can't be because the game hasn't been released outside of Japan, Final Fantasy XII has gameplay information and IT hasn't been released outside of Japan. And also, Final Fantasy XIII has information and the release date is still TBA!! - The preceding comment was made by Grevenko Sereth 20:44, 11 September 2006 (UTC)
September Europe releasde date
[edit]The September release date in europe must be wrong / out of date. I asked at GAME and they say they are not expecting it this month. --JiFish(Talk/Contrib) 17:26, 19 September 2006 (UTC)
Interview
[edit]There is an interview at http://www.1up.com/do/previewPage?cId=3153987 that may be useful, from where we can pick information about the game development. -- ReyBrujo 21:46, 23 September 2006 (UTC)
Other remakes??
[edit]I noticed this in this reception section:
"The game was released in Japan on 24 August, [[2006 in video gaming|2006. Sales for the game far exceeded Square-Enix's expectations, with 91% of its initial shipment, 503,051 copies, sold in the first week.[7] According to Director Tanaka, the game sold so well such that they are now considering remaking other Final Fantasy games.[8]"
I followed the link and read what it says, and I'm a bit intrigued. They already remade FFI and FFII and are currently remaking FFV and FFVI, so which other FF games are they talking about? FFVII, FFVIII, FFIX? I certainly hope so (well, not FFIX so much but definitely 7 and 8). I mean, it makes sense when you think about it. FFVII-FFIX are the only FFs that would really benefit from remakes. FFX doesn't need to be remade, FFXII isn't even out yet (Or FFXIII either for that matter) so if they were going to remake other FFs it would have to be FFVII, FFVIII and FFIX since they were only PS1 quality. In any case, it will be interesting to see if there are any further developments. - The preceding comment was made by Grevenko Sereth 1:06, 9 October 2006 (UTC)
- V and VI aren't remakes, they're ports with a slight amount of new content. V, VI and VII would (if one speculates) stand to gain the most from a new coat of paint. Ex-Nintendo Employee 11:09, 10 October 2006 (UTC)
What about VIII and IX? They could definitely use a new coat of paint as well. Besides, if they're already porting V and VI chances are that they won't get 3D remakes like III. - The preceding comment was made by Grevenko Sereth 1:06, 9 October 2006 (UTC)
- I suppose we can only wait and see, but I feel VII is a definite. What better way for Square to ring out 2007 than with a 10th anniversary edition of the most popular Final Fantasy game ever made?Sir Chocobo 20:20, 14 November 2006 (UTC)
Changes?
[edit]Could someone with the game begin a list of the changes? The two reviews I've read of it mention a high level of difficulty. So this probably means that the miniature dungeons, replicating enemies and lack of save points were carried over from the original. (DrZarkov 04:24, 16 November 2006 (UTC))
Could we also get a detailed list of Jobs? 69.153.168.109 04:44, 27 November 2006 (UTC)
Incorrect info regarding Luneth.
[edit]To quote from the beginning of the article:
"The formerly generic and nameless party characters were given new default names: Luneth (Runesu), Arc (Arukū), Refia (Refia) and Ingus (Inguzu); two party members (Luneth and Refia) are now female and two(Arc and Ingus) are male."
Erk. The official Square-Enix site clearly states that LUNETH, Arc and Ingus are all male, whereas Refia is the only female. I've changed it to the way it should be. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 65.33.113.84 (talk • contribs).
multiplayer or not?
[edit]does this game have multiplayer or not? why is there a question mark in the infobox, and why isnt there any infomation on multiplayer? dposse 13:51, 2 December 2006 (UTC)
This game is not multiplayer, although it does have some sort of e-mail-like system that can be used to communicate with people who also have FF3. Acewolf359 21:31, 7 December 2006 (UTC)
That's in no way Multiplayer. At most it's online WiFi, that's all.LanceHeart 17:42, 10 December 2006 (UTC)
You can use either local wireless LAN or WFC to send messages via Mognet. It can be used for chatting, help requests, group invites... Link 486
Plus when you do that, it puts more quests in your game. I believe the cahance to become the onion knight also has somthing to do with the wi-fi deal... --TheGreenLink 18:59, 5 February 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, it does. you have to send 7 mails in game and 7 mails to other people (luckily, it canbe the same person) and then talk to topapa to get the missing children quest.
Boxart

- I realize that "I can edit Wikipedia too", and I assume you knew it too, so no need to use a sarcastic patronizing message. I had already looked for a good English boxart, and was unsuccessful. So I suggest you be quiet. - A Link to the Past (talk) 20:08, 13 December 2006 (UTC)
The English box art is ugly. While someone may want to add it, I think the jap. box art should be included as well. Acewolf359 17:57, 13 December 2006 (UTC)
- There is enough room on this article for both box art pictures. Let's also try to be civil, ok? No need to get angry over pictures. dposse 06:23, 14 December 2006 (UTC)
- No need to get angry over pictures? Obviously you weren't there for the PS3 controller debacle:) THAT one even ended up on WP:LAME... Anyway, I think it's interesting that the Japanese version has all that art, while the NA version is just the logo on a white background. Normally that's the other way around... Webrunner 00:48, 30 December 2006 (UTC)
I think that the US box art should be used, after all, this Wiki entry is for the US version, not the Japanese version.
- Sorry that's not correct, this page is for information on all versions of the game. The US box art should be used unfortunately (as I prefer the Japanese) as this is what is used on all other pages for FF games have. Ajplmr 17:14, 31 January 2007 (UTC)
Number of parties
[edit]In actuality, there are only 8855 parties possibile (combinations, not permutations, are what matter here). Should I include this? It is original research, though. (DrZarkov 18:12, 13 December 2006 (UTC))
- If it is original research, then we cannot include it in the article per WP:NOR. dposse 06:24, 14 December 2006 (UTC)
Quoted from the article: "Advertisements for the game emphasize the job system by boasting that there are 279,841 possible party configurations. (If you are wondering how the figures of 279,841 came about, take the 23 jobs and multiply itself four times, or 23 to the 4th power).". I'm quessing you multiplied 23 by 4, right? Yoshiguy 20:58, 24 December 2006 (UTC)
- 23x4 is 91. The 8855 value comes from the equation for combinations, which shows how many different classes can constitute a party, and discarding all cases where you have the same combination but different orderings. See combination for the formula. (216.165.147.48 23:15, 26 December 2006 (UTC))
- The article should state what the advertisment does, as it is true that there are 279,841 party configurations. It should also tell that there are only 8855 possible combinations of jobs. Brieeyeball 07:40, 30 December 2006 (UTC)
When somebody searches for FFIII, shouldn't this be the page they're directed to?
[edit]Most people that do a search for FFIII will probably be looking for this game, not FFVI. By now people should know that FFVI is FFVI and FFIII is FFIII. If it is possible to change this, I believe it should be changed. HeroOfVirtue 22:52, 8 January 2007 (UTC)HeroOfVirtue
- FFIII does redirect to Final Fantasy III, FF3 to a disamibiguation. But FFIII does link to the Famicom III, which is not Final Fantasy VI, although it does have a Disambig template linking to both this article and FF6. Webrunner 22:03, 9 January 2007 (UTC)
- But the thing is, that game which is called Final Fantasy III is in fact Final Fantasy VI, as I am sure you know. And this game (Final Fantasy III for the Nintendo DS) is actually Final Fantasy III. It's not a big deal, it's just a bit of a nuisance. HeroOfVirtue 22:38, 9 January 2007 (UTC)
- No, the game called Final Fantasy III on Wikipedia, is the original Famicom FF3, which Final Fantasy III (Nintendo DS) is a remake of and was never released in North America in any form until the remake. The article for Final fantasy VI is, conversely, Final Fantasy VI... To recap: Final Fantasy III is job system, crystal balance, etc. Final Fantasy VI is the US SNES FF3, with Terra, Locke, Kefka, etc. People looking for This game by searching for "Final fantasy III" will find information on the original Famicom version, which at the bottom has a section on the DS remake. Webrunner 14:17, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
- You know what? I'm so incredibly stupid. I thought that article was for the American game called Final Fantasy III. But now I see that it's the original Japanese Final Fantasy III. And so, I must apologize for my idiocy. Yet, I have to say, most people looking for FFIII now would be looking for this remake. HeroOfVirtue 22:57, 12 January 2007 (UTC)

Reception
[edit]I've added a Reception section that so far details how well the game sold after it was released (this mainly details its Japan release) it also goes into how the game has led to more games being released for Nintendo systems which should eventually be incorporated into a Legacy. A Critical response section should/will also be created in the same model of other FF game pages. Ajplmr 17:19, 31 January 2007 (UTC)
Jobs
[edit]I think someone should put a list of all the jobs and how to get them. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by TheGreenLink (talk • contribs).
Onion Knight
[edit]Someone should put somthing on how to get the onion knight, since it's a secret job... --TheGreenLink 17:59, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
That's something more for a strategy page, not an encyclopedia article. The article already mentions that it's now a secret job. ~Entegy 19:58, 2 April 2007 (UTC)
Jobs
[edit]I would like it if someone could ask IGN if we can use the information on jobs from their guide on FF3. --Ace Mobius 2 22:19, 24 April 2007 (UTC)
- IGN is a news service. We can include much of everything they say, as long as we attribute it. Their job list isn't specifically copyrighted, becuase they're just "copying" the list from SqE's stuff. Use and attribute. McKay 14:41, 25 April 2007 (UTC)

Sci-Fi Reference
[edit]On the European release date source, you say it was retrieved on May 16th, 2007, this can mean 3 things: a) you are the first inventors of a time machine b) you're disregard for Euro sales is affecting your Wiki performance c) you've made a mistake. So...Will someone please rectify this? I would, but I don't know when it was retrieved. Thanks. Ashnard Talk 09:35, 6 May 2007 (UTC)
Okay, no response, so the date will be deleted as of now. Ashnard Talk 18:32, 18 May 2007 (UTC)
GA
[edit]Since I haven't edited this page, I'll go ahead and pass it on one condition: please spead more references throughout the article. Statements such as designers should have citations, and see if you can cite the game manual for gameplay info. — Deckiller 14:10, 19 May 2007 (UTC)

Non-factual, colloquial addition?
[edit]"It is also one of the rarest final fantasy games in the series. if you sold it you wouln't neccencerly become rich but you could sell it for $65."
This was added under the main header of the article. I do not think that it fits in there; I intend to change that right now. I do not typically edit wikis, but this seemed so glaring that it had to be rectified. Though I sincerely doubt I am, if I was wrong in removing this, please feel free to place it back in the article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.149.35.103 (talk) 04:37, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
