What Final Fantasy was Dark Cloud from? I don't remember anything of that sort. There's

Changed Dark Cloud to Cloud of Darkness

Dark Cloud was what it was called in this page, I changed it to the official name, which what it will most likely be called in the Final Fantasy III translation. Dark Cloud was from the unofficial translation, as the name didn't fit.

To the guy above, Cloud of Darkness (Dark Cloud) was the last boss in Final Fantasy III. Maybe you're thinking of Final Fantasy VI (Called 3 in North America), the one with Kefka.

I didn't know Dark Cloud/Cloud of Darkness had an "official" name. After all, the game hasn't passed through official translators yet. Do we have any sources to confirm this? Viltris 00:54, 13 January 2006 (UTC)

Storyline

The Story section of the article doesn't contain a story; it contains a blurb instead. It would be nice if an actual outline of the full story could be given. Naturally, it's not really possible to do that if it's written the same way the blurb is because of how long it'd be. --Michiel Sikma 19:27, 31 December 2005 (UTC)

I don't think it's short enough to be honest. These articles need short synopses such as that in Final Fantasy VII, without an incredible amount of detail (see Final Fantasy IX story). Final Fantasy VI's story section was cut down for a Featured Article drive. One other article that has a story section that is way too long is Final Fantasy IV, which I've been meaning to conform to FFVI for some time now. ~ Hibana 06:22, 1 January 2006 (UTC)

crystal chronicles resemblance

am I the only one who feels that the remake's graphics look a lot like FF:CC's graphics?

Scholar... a "Mage-type" class?

Despite the name, I really don't think the Scholar should be considered a "mage-type" class. When you first get them they actually do a decent amount of damage from smacking enemies with books, and they can't actually use any magic at all (not even a "special" magic type like the Geomancer has).

The Scholar abilities--Peep and Scan--are generally magic spells in the rest of the series... So you can say that the Scholar DOES use a bit of magic. It physically resembles a mage more than a warrior anyway.--Darkhunger 12:35, 25 April 2006 (UTC)

The Scholar was simply implemented to counter the difficulty of bosses who "wall change." (Change their weakness at will.) Using a Scholar, if I remember correctly, is only critical in 1 or 2 spots. Otherwise, they are pretty much without purpose. Technically, I wouldn't catagorize them with mages. I'm not even sure how this misconception would come about. Grendel 23:07, 1 July 2006 (UTC)

Should it be split?

I think this has been discussed before, but I'm not sure. The thing about the compilation games is that they contain more than one enhanced version. That's why the WonderSwan Color version of Final Fantasy I is in that article and the Game Boy Advance version is in a seperate one with Final Fantasy II as Final Fantasy I & II: Dawn of Souls. We wouldn't have seperate articles for Final Fantasy IV Advance, etc. However, since it's so radically different we could discuss perhaps renaming the series template section "Compilations and collections" to "Alternate versions" to put a Final Fantasy III (Nintendo DS) article in that way. ~ Hibana 15:46, 10 May 2006 (UTC)

I completely agree with the original poster that the article should be split, much like Super Mario 64 and Super Mario 64 DS are separate articles. Not only is the game in pseudo-3D, but the game has actual characters with default names and backstories, while some of the gameplay has been slightly altered. The article name, however, should not be Final Fantasy III DS, because the title remains Final Fantasy III. Instead, we should go for a Final Fantasy III (DS game). I think that Final Fantasy III should still redirect to this page, with a second notice at the top regarding the DS game. And this page should, of course, include a DS section, with a link to the main article. --Tristam 17:10, 14 July 2006 (UTC)

I haven't found any sources for this, and I took it off the WiFi games list. It sounds bogus to me and since there's no proof, I think it's safe to say someone confused this with the Crystal Chronicles DS game which has been said to have WiFi. --Trance 22:16, 17 June 2006 (UTC)

Gamespot posted this article yesterday. It talks about a "mailing system" similar to the Mognet from Final Fantasy IX and how there might be a possibility that you can send other people mail through the WFC. If anyone would like to test the Friend Code message functionality (along with bonus class and secret dungeon only accessible through this functionality), get the DS connected to WIFI, and chat with a moogle in a town. A Friend Code to try would be 403812605590. Generate a Friend Code for your game, then post your code in response here, and then we can see how the system works. I believe each user needs to enter the code into their DS in order to be able to communicate with eachother. Should probably link from the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection page too.

DS date

Wasn't the DS version released on the 23rd? I seem to remember that date from when I was in Japan (The Japanese version. (OT)My GF is sending me the Japanese version. Will have it next week. Can't wait!)

Merger of Character page to main article
