Bharathiraaja, one of the rare prides of Tamil cinema who has paved the way for many folk artists to enter the tinsel town, has come up again with a new movie Bommalattam in his own style.

Bharathiraaja, a true trend setter, has directed more than 40 films, and most of them become a lesson in film-making to a lot of new comers. His 16 Vayathinile still looks as fresh as ever, and no other film comes anywhere close to this classic. But after Kizhakku Seemayile, the ace director's career faded out. His recent movies like Kadal Pookal, Eera Nilam, and Kangalal Kaithu Sei turned into big disasters at the box office, and this forced the director to re- invent himself afresh. He remained dormant during the past 3 years and has now come up with a new tri- lingual project with Nana Patekar and Arjun.

Originally, the film has been scripted for Hindi viewers in the name of 'Bharathiraaja's Cinema' with Nana Patekar in the lead. Few months later, the director will make the film in Tamil too with the action king Arjun. Last year, he performed the pooja of Bommalattam in Malaysia and has already completed 80 percent of the movie. This film is going to be release in Telugu too in the name of Kalidas. A.R.Rahman is the composer for this multilingual project.

According to a press release from the director, the film is not based on a village-oriented subject. But one can, nevertheless, expect the same feel and the classy touch of Bharathiraaja. His son Manoj K. Bharathi is helping him as an assistant director for this film. For youngsters like Manoj, still there is a lot to learn from the legend. One can only expect another classy movie like Sigappu Rojakkal from Bharathi!

The term 'Bommalattam' as a priority should point to the Indian Performing Art that it actually is meant to be. I request someone to create an article on the real 'Bommalattam' so people can know about what the name means. Thank you.

@Ab207:@Kailash29792: The older revision of this article stated that this film is a Tamil film when in fact 90% of the Tamil version is dubbed from Hindi. Reviews of the Tamil film confirm this:

• Irregular lip-sync of actors also reveal that the movie is in fact dubbed into Tamil after having been shot in Hindi directly
• ‘Bommalattam’ has been projected as a bilingual but most of the time it’s like watching a dubbed Tamil film. It’s obvious that many of the scenes have been filmed in Hindi alone — flawed lip sync makes a mockery of some of the serious scenes.

This source here calls the film a bilingual and hence I have updated it in the article. The main issue is that the name of the page is in Tamil leading to viewers of this page to think that this is a Tamil film when it is not. Somehow the CBFC certificate says the film is a straight Tamil film but confirmation is needed. This case is similar to Akhaada where the dubbed version has a bigger release than the original version. It would be helpful if you could find more sources on the original Hindi version. The only scenes shot in Tamil are the Vivek and Manivannan scenes, which only are a couple minutes at most. This film is not Nana Patekar's Tamil debut or Kajal's Tamil debut; it is a Hindi film.

I would propose moving the article to the title Final Cut (2008 film) or Final Cut of Director OR clearly state that the film is also made in Hindi. DareshMohan (talk) 10:15, 29 April 2022 (UTC)

Surprising how a renowned director like Bharathiraja would resort to such atrocities. With an actor like Arjun who is more active in Tamil, and an industry where Bharathiraja is more honored, I wonder why he would focus on Hindi which doesn't respect him as much or given him success. Thanks for the input, but we need more Hindi sources/rewrite the article to make it not sound like it is a Tamil film. Also how do we go about update Nana Patekar, Kajal and Arjun's filmography pages since their scenes were only shot in Hindi. Should the language be changed to Hindi?

This source clearly states that the film is Hindi only:

@DareshMohan and Kailash29792: A strange case indeed. CBFC certificate of the Tamil version is available on Jio Cinema which says a its straight film, not dubbed. On the contrary, there is DNA source which claims the Hindi version itself is dubbed (could be completely wrong though).

That said, there shouldn't be an issue if you seek to move the article to the Hindi title, and wove the article around it. However, Tamil would still be an original language (albeit partially reshot). Claim of Patekar/Agarwal's Tamil debut can be left out. -- Ab207 (talk) 12:43, 29 April 2022 (UTC)
