Recent edits / "controversy"

[edit]

Almost all of the recent edits on controversies could be considered recentism. They refer to a recent or a current minor controversy and should be removed - Wikipedia is not a tabloid newspaper. Hohenloh + 23:35, 2 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

They should be trimmed to a couple of sentences, way too detailed at the moment. Snappy (talk) 16:05, 3 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Following on from the above, after making a number of edits to this article yesterday I have removed the bit about dispute between her husband and a plumber from the "controversies" section. At first I just moved the pieces about the two disputes on the page to the bottom of the article as it had too much prominence and looked like it was inserted by someone with a potential grievance with Healy Eames. I left the issue with the car tax and train ticket in because that relates to her but after I read the bit about the plumber it didn’t seem to belong in the article. I did include the following edit summary when I made the original edit "actually this is a pretty trivial matter and relates to her husband not her. More an attempt at mud raking than pertinent information with regards the individual" but I think User:Guliolopez may have missed it when they were tidying the article up. It seems a pretty trivial matter to have in an article and from reading the article the dispute was actually between her husband and the plumber and not her. Anyway, that was my reasoning. I'm not wedded to the removal but just don’t think it should be in the article as its not relevant.--Wonkey Donkey (talk) 12:07, 11 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
As per the discussion on my talk page, I did overlook an edit-summ along the line. Apologies. In any event, while we should be careful about giving undue weight to certain events or coverage, the BLP guidelines suggest that content should be neutral and balanced. Notwithstanding that this article might have been subject to potentially COI-SELF or COI-PR edits, given that some of the topics had significant coverage at the time, I do think that the article reads with more balance/context with a summary mention in place. While we should (as Hohenloh suggests) be careful about recentism, if we think the separate "controversy" section is problematic under WP:UNDUE or WP:TRIVIA guidelines, then perhaps we should address as suggested and merge any remaining summary with the article body. Happy to hear thoughts or have a CON building discussion on that. Guliolopez (talk) 18:05, 12 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I kind of agree with User:Alison on the points she made on your talk page. I also agree with you, the article looks like it has been subject to COI-SELF and/or COI-PR but on the flip side it looks like it has also been used by someone or some people with a gripe against her, such as the edits throughout August 2012 with single purpose accounts like User:Boombastic123 adding solely negative comments about her. I hope my edits have added some well needed balance to the article.
I haven’t a problem with a "controversy" section per se in the article and it may be relevant to have the issue with the car tax and train fare in the article (I'm not 100% convinced it is, but anyway) but I'm really not sure that a small court case that involved her husband and a plumber over an outstanding bill is suitable for inclusion. That comes across as a bit of an attempt at a character assassination.--Wonkey Donkey (talk) 13:06, 16 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
If there are reliable referenced sources attesting to the events, then I think it fair to say that it belongs here in the article. However, at the same time it is also very important to remain NPOV and to avoid this article simply becoming a list of controversial incidents. Weighing up this balance is something that has faced almost every article on a politician here at Wikipedia. Midnightblueowl (talk) 21:07, 17 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Healy Eames' Fine Gael profile paged archived

[edit]

Healy Eames' profile page at the Fine Gael party's website is archived at webcitation.org to prevent loss of information and to provide a potentially useful reference in case the page is removed. Snappy (talk) 20:04, 16 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

How is mispronouncing a word news?

[edit]

How is mispronouncing a word news? Snappy (talk) 17:52, 13 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

You'll have to ask the news companies that, but it's definitely notable. Gob Lofa (talk) 22:15, 29 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Anyone who thinks mispronouncing a word is notable is an idiot. Snappy (talk) 18:15, 30 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
That's not very nice. Gob Lofa (talk) 18:18, 30 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
ahhh, diddums, did I hurt your feelings? Snappy (talk)
I can't remember; "diddums" has completely thrown me. Gob Lofa (talk) 19:43, 30 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
