Verdasco's Ethnicity
[edit]Does anyone know Verdasco's background? I was watching his semi-final today in Brisbane and the camera kept showing his dad in the crowd. I previously noted (in person, not on wikipedia) that Fernando doesn't look overly Spanish but his dad appears to have a South American ethnicity. Can anyone confirm this? -Depor23 (talk) 02:52, 10 January 2009 (UTC)
You may not be that familiar with Spaniards then, as they're are plenty who have the same dark olive-skin look as Verdasco, specially in the South of the country. Spain was conquered and ruled by the Moors for almost 1000 years and during that time there was influx of people from the Middle East, North Africa and even India (gypsies). It shouldn't come as surprise then that many Spanish citizens have a somewhat slightly non-European ethnic look. The further you go north though, the "whiter" their physical appearance becomes. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 60.224.3.192 (talk) 21:58, 30 January 2009 (UTC)
- But his dad still looks Mestizo. Verdaso doesn't look Moorish, Almagro looks Moorish. -Depor23 (talk) 14:20, 16 February 2009 (UTC)
Hello!
There's a factual error with the highest single ranking so far. It says he reached #9 Feb.2nd, 2008, but it's 2009.
His Grand Slam table needs to be changed. That 2010 misinformation needs to be removed. I don't know how to do it. Quickgold1 (talk) 03:46, 6 September 2009 (UTC)Dan

Verdasco is certainly of South American descent. I can guarantee you that Verdasco's father moved to Madrid during the famous Movida Madrilena. Many South Americans came to Spain looking for work and were given legal documents. Problem is that now they'll never admit it because they think they're Spaniards. — Preceding unsigned comment added by AKara81 (talk • contribs) 06:15, 24 January 2011 (UTC)
