Is it correct to say increased 5HT 'depresses' CNS function? Increased seritonergic activity would not normally constitute a 'depressed' state. While 'depression' is a vague term, one usually associates it with reduced electrical or increased inhibitory neuron activity. -Agreed, while the general result of serotonin release, or more specifically, activation of 5HT receptors is to reduce neuron firing, the word is far too vague and implies a sort of GABAnergic action that does not occur. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.129.111.90 (talkcontribs)
