Re: hangon
[edit]Perhaps allow a bit of time for editors of Fencing practice and techniques to absorb some of the content before it gets zapped. I have notified at that article. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 05:08, 21 February 2010 (UTC)
Delete or merge?
[edit]This article is so short and superficial that I think it might be best to either expand it greatly or else merge it into a different article. Much of the material is in Glossary of fencing, although not in a tutorial style (but to be fair, this article isn't really in tutorial style either.)
My suggestion is to move all of the "Techniques" material from the Fencing practice and techniques article here, and then rename that article to Fencing rules and competition. Geoffrey.landis (talk) 14:57, 14 August 2013 (UTC)
- In the absence of an objection, I moved the footwork material from the Fencing practice and techniques article here. Geoffrey.landis (talk) 19:18, 21 August 2013 (UTC)
Non-fencing sword tactics
[edit]Is there an article for tactics in sword fighting outside of fencing, on fields less regulated in terms of linear/featureless terrain or matchups other than 1v1? Was reading this TheArma essay and curious about this. 184.145.18.50 (talk) 19:53, 3 February 2016 (UTC)
Tactics vs Techniques
[edit]Generally in sport, the terms, Strategy, Tactics, Techniques would be broken up differently than used here. This page contains mostly Techniques.
E.g. A parry and a riposte are techniques. Inviting the opponent to attack you, and using a parry and riposte to score is a tactic. Planning to win the bout by repeatedly performing that tactic is a strategy.
I'm not sure what this page should contain exactly, but it seems like it might need renaming.Jslimmer (talk) 16:18, 28 November 2019 (UTC)
