Feijoa in Georgia?

[edit]

I just read in "The Georgian Feast" by Darra Goldstein that Georgians (former Soviet Union) cultivate feijoas. Does anyone have any corroborating evidence? 72.192.135.104 05:23, 5 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I lived in Azerbaijan, and I know from experience that both Georgia and Azerbaijan cultivate feijoas, but I don't have any sources. --Merond e 07:14, 4 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

In southern California

[edit]

This plant and it's fruit grows well in So Cal. Probably should be added to the main wiki page. 72.192.128.18 (talk) 18:43, 27 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

ALso, one way to tell if the fruit is ripe is to gently shake the branch. If it falls, its ripe.98.207.230.186 (talk) 21:27, 29 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"Citation needed" overused!

[edit]

"Citation needed" on scooping the fruit with a spoon? Seriously, do you need that? Does society as a whole not trust whether fruit is scooped with a spoon? This section of the article has way too many "citation needed" tags; this is not the Oxford English Dictionary. --204.246.229.149 (talk) 15:27, 8 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File:Feijoa sellowiana edit.jpg to appear as POTD soon

[edit]

Hello! This is a note to let the editors of this article know that File:Feijoa sellowiana edit.jpg will be appearing as picture of the day on June 3, 2010. You can view and edit the POTD blurb at Template:POTD/2010-06-03. If this article needs any attention or maintenance, it would be preferable if that could be done before its appearance on the Main Page so Wikipedia doesn't look bad. :) Thanks! howcheng {chat} 23:11, 2 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Buriatia? Are you kidding me?

[edit]

It gets to -40 and -50 there. 100 miles SOUTH of Ulan Ude (closest I've been) I doubt they can even grow apples. Now I know lake Baikal would help even out the weather, but not that much. This thing appears to have been re-cited and re-cited all over the web, but pics or it didn't happen. Anyone have support for this? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.82.163.178 (talk) 00:26, 22 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Native distribution

[edit]

This species is not native to Colombia, where its is widely planted. Its native range only includes Southern Brazil, Uruguay, Eastern Patraguay and Northestern Argentina. Most sources for this information is in Portuguese, but there are some in English as well.

Thanks authors

[edit]

I just foraged/gleaned some feijoa from a parking lot where it had been planted as an ornamental hedge. I had an idea what I had but now thanks to you, I know SOOOO much about pineapple guava. Wikipedia for the win, again and again. jengod (talk) 04:55, 4 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Variant spelling

[edit]

I've encountered "feijoe" on the Web, although I don't know if this is a legitimate variant spelling or the result of someone who kant spel gud. Accordingly, I created a redirect from Feijoe to Acca (plant) — QuicksilverT @ 18:40, 30 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Redirects here vs to Acca (plant)

[edit]

Updated some redirects (Feijoa, Feijoe) that were pointing at Acca (plant), updated to redirect here. This is under assumption that people are more likely to be searching for the tree species/fruit, and not a synonym for the Acca genus. In any case - added a Template:Redirect pointing at the genus. — Preceding unsigned comment added by RadishSlice (talkcontribs) 01:26, 7 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Acca sellowianaFeijoa sellowiana – The species in question was recently reclassified. I have provided links and references in the article, so I will not repeat here. I couldn't rename the articles, since it is telling me the article already exists (it is just a redirect page). Should be an easier way to do this. In the infobox, the listed genus, Feijoa, links back to the Feijoa sellowiana article. I'm reading that Acca is synonymous with Feijoa, so I believe the infobox should link to the Acca (plant) article, whether or not the genus is listed as Feijoa or Acca here. ——24.5.252.198 (talk) 19:50, 1 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Resolved by making an edit to Template:Taxonomy/Feijoa. ——JavaRogers (talk) 20:01, 1 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
