Can anyone confirm if Sunday Love was actually independently released in June 2006? Admittedly I'm not entirely well versed on Dobson but there are conflicting reports on the matter. There are a few recent sources that state it was - [1][2][3] However, I wouldn't be surprised if these articles were basing this information off of the Sunday Love Wikipedia article itself, which, prior to those previous links being published, has used this source to claim it was independently released. That source isn't really valid though, as it simply shows a June release date, and this is prior to Island Records dropping her. Older evidence from back in the day points at it not being released. This page's History shows this: [4][5] and an interview from her from April 2007 also seems to point at this being the case - "Though it was hard to see the demise of Sunday Love, she was happy to see the positive reactions to copies that leaked over the internet — which she's quick to point out had nothing to do with her" [6] alongside an article from September 2006 that says the album has been canceled with no mention of an independent release [7]. An interview with Nylon also mentions that it was the "third album [she] released" [8]. There also doesn't appear to be any evidence of an actual physical or digital release of the album in 2006, aside from promotional copies. With all that being said, I'm not sure what to put in the article, as there are reputable sources claiming the album was independently released in June 2006 even though I'm fairly certain it wasn't independently released at all. It wasn't. As a fan, I know that it leaked across P2P services but never had an official independent release. It wasn't officially released until digitally in 2012. There's been the occasional issue with wishful fans adding false info for this artist. I'm going to remove it. LoveLaced (talk) 14:22, 22 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
