This should be a disambiguation page
[edit]I tried to change this "article" into a disambiguation page, because it covers multiple different topics. That is, there have been several groups of people known as "federales" over the years, and they each have their own articles. Since we don't know which one a reader is looking for, we need only provide links to each of them. However, my changes were reverted. I would like to get some wider discussion on the topic. [edit]Should the title "Federales" be used for an article or for a disambiguation page? Powers T 17:14, 25 November 2009 (UTC)
- User LtPowers makes a valid case for a disambiguation page and the Federal police agency seems well covered by its "master" item. Perhaps the sentences dealing with media/literary references to Mexican police agents could be transferred to a "Federales in popular culture" sub-section of that article.
- However, I think that a separate and expanded "Federales (Mexican Federal Army 1871-1914)" item is warranted as a stand-alone stub. The term is commonly used in reference to members of a particular military force which ceased to exist in 1914. The existing Mexican Army article covers a very broad range of topics and anyone wondering just what Federales were in the frequently used context of the Diaz/Huerta era might find clarification difficult. It would also be a pity to lose the historically interesting photograph, provided by another editor, of Federales on parade in 1914. A cross-reference would of course be made to the new dismbiguation page and through that to other uses of the term. Buistr (talk) 21:26, 25 November 2009 (UTC)
- Disambig page – This should very clearly be a disambig page. (Plus, Federale should not be a disambig page; that's a French word, not a Spanish one.) Hah, nine years later! been rather quiet here... Mathglot (talk) 05:43, 20 June 2018 (UTC)
