Regarding the post office... I was recently in that area and the post office is now located "down the hill" from where the town used to be. It is now located on the same property with the Gold Flake Club- appears to be an addition to their building.
Regarding what is where the town used to be. It is a privately run tree or lumber farm...no I didn't get the name of the company. I went, last summer (2010) to see the house I grew up in and there is no trace of the town. I thought maybe I could at least see the land where my house was but all the little streets are gone too. They aren't just dilapidated, there is no trace of them.
I don't have any fact, just what I saw. The school is there, the post office is moved, the church is moved, the community hall is gone... There is not even a foundation where the post office used to be. I wonder why the town was demolished it will be missed!FeatherFalls Kid (talk) 17:55, 26 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Besides the Post Office, School and Library, there used to be a restaurant, a bakery, a general store and a Seventh Day Adventist enclave of a sort; it was some Adventists that owned the bakery and the restaurant. But, yes, there is nary a trace of any of it left. The last couple of web pages with history and pictures have disappeared from the internet, likely with the passing of the folks that created them. We lived there for a bit in the early 80s a little out of town on property down Tamarack road where the old logging company had at one time a pretty large bar, in ruins, but mostly still standing when we were there. The lumber company was Georgia-Pacific, I think, and all the houses/cabins were a picturesque red with white trim like a Christmas Village; a really lovely little place, full of characters. Once a week a police car drove up the mountain and got a soda from the general store, turned around and went back down the hill. There was a small pond across the road suitable for swimming and a contingent of Maidus from around that we knew. I really wish this Wikipedia page had a way capture all, or some, of all that was.
