Twitter

[edit]

Fatboy has an official Twitter account run by the BBC. I feel this should be mentioned, but where and how? AnemoneProjectors 20:02, 9 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

In other media?GunGagdinMoan 21:16, 9 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Well we already have "Other appearances" - this isn't really an "other apperance" but are those other appearances also "other media"?. Maybe it belongs in development... AnemoneProjectors 21:48, 9 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Hmmm, I dont think so as it's not really about character development. I would say in 'other appearances' if you dont want to add an 'other media' section.GunGagdinMoan 21:58, 9 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I'm just wondering if it means he'll be appearing in series 2 of E20 and this is a part of that - if it's related then it might be some kind of development. But for now I will go with other appearances. AnemoneProjectors 22:31, 9 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Reception

[edit]

Just found this from the Guardian, wondered if it could be used in the reception section -

"[..] triumphantly, best newcomer for Fatboy. The latter wasn't just a win for actor Ricky Norwood – it was a win for all obnoxiously two-dimensional dubstep-fixated stock characters transparently modelled on Jar Jar Binks". [1] - JuneGloom07 Talk? 17:43, 23 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Stuart Heritage really doesn't like Fatboy :-) I'll stick it in. AnemoneProjectors 17:46, 23 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Done and put with his other quote, rather than next to his award win, because that just totally takes away from it and is completely unbalanced. I don't get the Jar Jar Binks comparison at all, though that's the second one now! AnemoneProjectors 18:00, 23 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Jar Jar Binks is primarily used to provide comic relief in Star Wars, George Lucas put him in the film for younger viewers. The character wasn't well received at all. - JuneGloom07 Talk? 18:44, 23 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Oh yeah. I thought they were comparing the way he talks lol AnemoneProjectors 19:09, 23 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

GA Review

[edit]
This review is transcluded from Talk:Fatboy (EastEnders)/GA1. The edit link for this section can be used to add comments to the review.

I'll review this article shortly. Wizardman Operation Big Bear 06:13, 27 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Here are the issues I found:

  • "and all the kids in school would start taking the mickey out of it." is that quote written right? doesn't sound so to me, but it could just be slang I'm unfamiliar with. Either way, try making this long one a blockquote; if it doesn't look good that way then it doesn't need to stay like that, but just offering the suggestion.
The quote is written correctly and it is a common expression in the UK. There is a Wiktionary entry wikt:take the mickey, showing that it is Cockney rhyming slang. Would it be a good idea to link to the Wiktionary page? AnemoneProjectors 19:24, 2 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • "Norwood revealed his contract had been extended to December 2010, saying that the producers saw "some future in Fatboy", though he did not know what would happen after that." Now that December 2010 is past, any updates on a contract situation?
It's actually unusual to know when an actor's contract has been extended or renewed, normally we only find out when it hasn't been and they are going to be leaving. Nothing has been reported since so we can only assume it was renewed again. AnemoneProjectors 19:24, 2 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • There are several comma issues in the storyline where ones should be added but aren't. Added one myself for guidance there.
I've added in a few commas where I thought they were needed though I'm not sure if I added too many or too few. If there are more comma problems, would you be able to fix them? AnemoneProjectors 19:24, 2 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
  • "A writer for website Watch With Mothers" the website
    Done AnemoneProjectors 19:24, 2 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Not too much to fix. I'll put the article on hold and pass it upon these being fixed. Wizardman Operation Big Bear 17:42, 2 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

That looks good now. I went and added the wiktionary link. Only remaining problem is that I found a deadlink. The information was there, so I just removed the URL; if you can find an online source or a archive url for that though, do so. Anyway, the article now passes as a GA. Wizardman Operation Big Bear 21:08, 2 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. I will try to find an archive url or another source. The same source is used in some other articles. AnemoneProjectors 21:25, 2 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Moving to Fatboy

[edit]

Looking at the Fatboy page, it's only a redirect to the Fat Boy disambiguation page. Can we move Arthur's page to Fatboy? Is this possible? GSσяву Dιng Dσng! 23:37, 30 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

IMO no, as there are other articles called "Fatboy". But if you feel that strongly about it, see WP:RM and follow the instructions. –AnemoneProjectors23:48, 30 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

E20 series 3

[edit]

Although nothing explicitely says that Fatboy will appear, one of the cast members said "It has been amazing and such good fun especially working with Fatboy (Ricky Norwood) - he is a really nice guy. One of the best experiences of my life." Does this mean he will be in series 3? –AnemoneProjectors11:17, 24 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This will give you the answer,: [2] It shows Fatboy and Grace Olubunmi rehearsing scenes. Mercy's no where to be seen, meanign she could have left, meaning Grace is staying after Mercy has left. MayhemMario 15:53, 24 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, that's very very very helpful. I've not got much time on the internet at the moment so can't look for these things. –AnemoneProjectors15:18, 24 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Death

[edit]

OK, DTC promised that there would be a death on Christmas Day. It was obvious between Ronnie and Vincent's discussion that Fatboy was in the boot instead of Vincent. Vincent then went to the car crusher and when he opened the boot he was sick, there is no way he would be sick if all he uncovered was a mobile phone and a necklace. EastEnders have made it so we can get from that scene that Fatboy has died, we may not have seen an actual body but it is obvious.

Can we therefore please stop changing the article to stop mentioning that his body has been found?--5 albert square (talk) 21:47, 27 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, all sources are saying he is dead, so we can't say otherwise. What we don't know is exactly what killed him, but I would say he suffocated, because he died when the knocking stopped before the crushing happened, and he was gagged so suffication seems likely. AnemoneProjectors 21:56, 27 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Neither gagging (after all that time) nor being locked in a car boot would suffocate someone. It might make them unconscious through reduced oxygen but I can't see how they would die. Since we haven't yet been told exactly how he died, anything we say in the article cannot say he suffocated, which would be WP:OR at the least. Stephenb (Talk) 22:02, 27 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Unless a source states otherwise we do not know. He may have been unconscious then crushed to death. On DS it said something along the lines of it being left to the viewers imagination.Rain the 1 22:08, 27 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
If we say that Vincent saw Fatboy's body then that should be enough as that's what we saw. He's the only cast member from them not to be credited in any of the credits from now on, so I think we can safely say it was Fatboy that died.................--5 albert square (talk) 22:11, 27 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't want to say how he died in this article, because we don't know, but WP:EE/BMD has had a lot of changes. @Stephenb: maybe EastEnders writers think gagging and being locked in a car boot could suffocate someone. It was implied that the death occured at the time the knocking stopped. AnemoneProjectors 22:45, 27 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@AnemoneProjectors: Yes, it's possible they did, but (a) they're usually better researched than that and (b) that's entirely your supposition. He's dead, but we don't know exactly how he died yet. I don't think it was implied that he died when the knocking stopped at all, just that whoever was in the boot was unable to knock any more. We know that Fatboy was scared of confined spaces, so perhaps he just passed out in fear. Stephenb (Talk) 22:58, 27 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I'm just curious to know where suffocation comes from. I looked up several articles online where somebody was locked in a trunk/boot for several hours and they have n to suffocated. Plus if most cars have a pass through from the middle seat, I don't necessarily think it would be airtight. Although this is my theory and I can't back it up, I believe he died from a heart attack. The fear of being locked in the trunk/boot of a car with Ronnie taunting him saying he was gonna die and the goons most likely roughing him up would be enough to cause a fatal heart arrhythmia. But then again, they could have taken him out of it before they went to the scrapyard and then killed him. Anyway, I doubt we'll ever know. Arjoccolenty (talk) 05:14, 28 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

There's no evidence to suggest it was a heart attack, but if you think it's impossible that he suffocated, then we will never know, unless we are told (in the real world). So on WP:EE/BMD I've said unknown causes and then described the circumstances. AnemoneProjectors 11:56, 28 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I've read a couple of sources now that say he was crushed, which are news reports on the reaction to the death. AnemoneProjectors 15:24, 1 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I personally think that it is rather clear that Fatboy was indeed crushed as that is what was meant to happen to Vincent. He wouldn't have suffocated in the car, and also there is a policy on no original research here. Chesnaught555 (talk) 15:30, 1 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I agree (now). But I think this should be heavily sourced in the article. AnemoneProjectors 15:45, 1 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
