merger

Shouldn't this article be merged with a different article on the same topic with the same name: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fata_Morgana_%28mirage%29 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fata_Morgana_(mirage) —Preceding unsigned comment added by75.63.17.175 (talk) 04:30, 30 March 2010 (UTC)

You're referring to the same article.--Mbz1 (talk) 04:33, 30 March 2010 (UTC)

A note on some extra sources

Copied here by User:Invertzoo from the review of the possible DYK because of useful mentions of other sources that it might be useful to reference:

"For the reference to Hg2g, I am unsure of its reliability. There are other reputable sources that actually mention the flying dutchman such ashttp://blogs.qc.cuny.edu/blogs/ONH2008/001/2008/11/fata_morgana.html andhttp://mintaka.sdsu.edu/GF/bibliog/bibliog.html (talk) 23:02, 30 March 2010 (UTC)"

Best wishes to all, Invertzoo (talk) 12:17, 31 March 2010 (UTC)

P.S. I think most, if not all, the images in the first source do not actually show Fata Morgana but other mirages: simple inferior mirages and simple superior images. There is much confusion in popular minds about what constitutes a Fata Morgana: regular superior mirages and inferior mirages are not Fata Morgana, which is a rather rare and very complex superior mirage. Invertzoo (talk) 12:22, 31 March 2010 (UTC)

You are right. The first few images from the source show a superior mirage and the last one is an inferior mirage.--Mbz1 (talk) 14:47, 31 March 2010 (UTC)

"Invalid thumbnail" instead of image

I get "Error creating thumbnail: Invalid thumbnail parameters or image file with more than 12.5 million pixels" for Scm.gif in IE7, Firefox 3.0.6 and Chrome 4, under Win. XP SP3.--86.41.251.52 (talk) 20:45, 6 April 2010 (UTC)

Yes, I know. There's is a problem with animations now. Come back in few days. Hopefully it will be fixed.--Mbz1 (talk) 20:55, 6 April 2010 (UTC)
I have just replaced it with a Theora OGG version. I made three versions from the original GIF: File:Scm_gif_fullsize_q10.ogv (1944x1296 pixels, 1.3 MB),File:Scm_gif_q9_480p.ogv (720x480 pixels, 222 KB), File:Scm_gif_q10_240p.ogv(360x240 pixels, 72 KB). I used the wikimedia image attribute "frame" in this article because wikimedia would send the same number of bytes when played (72 kilobytes for the 360 pixel wide version) independent of user preferences for thumbnail size. The still frame JPEG thumbnail cost to the user is only 6.31 KB. -84user (talk) 21:03, 6 April 2010 (UTC)
Thank you very much.--Mbz1 (talk) 21:05, 6 April 2010 (UTC)
