Tone

[edit]

I adjusted the tone a little, but I still feel that it reads a bit wrong. I am rather new to edits of this type and would like a second set of eyes on this, if at all possible. Cmrc23 (talk) 08:30, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

(Hi, I added the template.) Your edit was a substantial improvement—thank you—but you're correct that there are some spots remaining. For example:
  • This vast area features numerous lakes, rivers teeming with red salmon, diverse wildlife, notably the Alaska brown bear... Compare that to the matter-of-fact tone of the lede of the article about Katmai itself.
  • encourage positive human-nature interactions through the utilization of live webcams strategically placed along the Brooks River. Simply too many words.
There might be more I've missed, and I'm not a MOS expert, so I'd go so far as to call in a third set of eyes. But, anyway, I appreciate your help cleaning this article up. Ursus arctos californicus (talk) 05:28, 3 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Ursus arctos californicus I think it's almost fixed, but I'm not sure about the last paragraph in the lede
  • Beyond its playful competitive aspect, Fat Bear Week also serves to promote bear conservation, cultivate an interest in wildlife, and encourage positive human-nature interactions through the use of live webcams strategically placed at Brooks Falls and along the Brooks River.
I would really like to hear from others on how this section can be improved! Cmrc23 (talk) 05:56, 7 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I altered the paragraph following advice from a helpful user on the discord. I think it's ready to remove the template now. Cmrc23 (talk) 10:00, 7 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Pinging @Ca and @Ursus arctos californicus for opinions Cmrc23 (talk) 10:03, 7 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I think there are some places where minor improvements could be made, but that is an issue for WP:GA or WP:FA reviews. I think the tone tag is now unnecessary. Ca talk to me! 10:28, 7 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed. Thanks, everyone! Ursus arctos californicus (talk) 20:27, 7 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

2023

[edit]

Hello, As none of the other years have dedicated sections, I have removed most of the 2023 section. It is in the page history if anyone disagrees. I have moved the section on the missing hiker to the "history" section, as i feel like it fits with the list of incidents. --Cmrc23 (talk) 07:10, 8 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
