Talk:Fastest speed on a bicycle
Inconsistent
[edit]Meiffret's record was motor-paced - and has subsequently been exceeded by Allen Abbot, John Howard and Fed van Rompelberg - while Bursford's is a roller record. Mr Larrington (talk) 11:47, 23 July 2009 (UTC)
Sam Whittingham new world speed record in September of 2008 of 82.33 MPH. http://www.wisil.recumbents.com/home.asp?URL=wisil/whpsc2009 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.56.115.196 (talk) 21:01, 12 September 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for the comments. Regarding Meiffret Abbot and Howard, I will delete them from the main table, and I will add them at a new sectiion with history, on this same page. Regarding Whittingham, his record is the one we have now. At your link I see a woman record , so i add it to the table. Regarding Bursford, can you explain what does "roller record" mean? Shall we rename it? --Jordiferrer (talk) 19:03, 15 November 2009 (UTC)
Serial bicycle
[edit]What is a serial bicycle? The one reference in English describes the bike as a series bicycle. Is that the same thing? -AndrewDressel (talk) 17:15, 15 November 2009 (UTC)
- Serial bicycle means a bicycle that be purchased at a shop, as opposed to a custom made or a prototype one. Shall we rename it to "series production bicycle"--Jordiferrer (talk) 18:39, 15 November 2009 (UTC)
- Perhaps just production bicycle with the wikilink for those not familiar with the expression. Stock might also be good, but I don't know if of these bikes have not been modified from [their] original factory configuration. -AndrewDressel (talk) 20:46, 15 November 2009 (UTC)
Done, and 3 sections added to the article. --Jordiferrer (talk) 22:34, 15 November 2009 (UTC)
Merge this article with the Cycling records
[edit]I am planning to merge this new article with the existing Cycling records one. The Cycling records will then have sections for:
- Speed records (including the 3 subsections for history of Descending, Motor Paced, and Non-Motor-paced.
- Hour records
- Other records
This way the merged article will have plenty of references , so we solve another issue. Jordiferrer (talk) 12:23, 16 November 2009 (UTC)
- Good idea. Ccrrccrr (talk) 14:04, 16 November 2009 (UTC)
- I agree. I went ahead and added the merger templates to help solicit other opinions. -AndrewDressel (talk) 14:57, 16 November 2009 (UTC)
Can someone redirect remove all contents from this article, and redirect it to the following section: Cycling_records#Speed_record_on_a_bicycle --Jordiferrer (talk) 17:20, 16 November 2009 (UTC)
- Sure, I can perform the merge, but I'd like to wait a few days to see if we get any more comments. -AndrewDressel (talk) 14:42, 17 November 2009 (UTC)
- I would like to see this merge happen too, thanks for the waiting a bit. --Keithonearth (talk) 17:28, 17 November 2009 (UTC)
- It appears that, while we waited for more comments, Jordiferrer went ahead and added all the content from Fastest speed on a bicycle to Cycling records. Can the contents of Cycling records now just be replaced with a redirect? -AndrewDressel (talk) 14:16, 24 November 2009 (UTC)
I guess you mean to replace contents from Fastest speed on a bicycle with a REDIRECTION to Cycling records.--Jordiferrer (talk) 08:31, 25 November 2009 (UTC)
