Clean-up
[edit]I cleaned up the last version of the page. It read like a directory entry in a local "Sights to See" type of publication in a travel book. --Impaciente 16:43, 11 January 2006 (UTC)
There were a few factual errors which I corrected. Buffum's was a the other anchor that opened with center. Also the center opened in August 1967 one month after South Coast Plaza. Bullock's Wilshire was the original tenant in the location where Macy's is now and was replaced by an I. Magnin. --User:rjlawrencejr
Listing of stores
[edit]Perhaps someone from the area could include a complete listing of stores at the Fashion Island. President Rhapsody 23:03, 25 September 2006 (UTC)
- This would require unending updates. The linked official web page is a better place for this information to be found. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 4.131.134.162 (talk) 00:28, 10 January 2007 (UTC).
neutral POV
[edit]parts of this article, especially the first paragraph, have some harsh statements with no sources. "Fascist Island," "elitist," "pretentious." It seems that whoever was writing those sentences really had something against the Fashion island. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 208.127.32.172 (talk) 19:05, 10 December 2006 (UTC).
- "Neutralized." :) The "Fascist Island" label is usually applied with humor, and I have changed the text to reflect this. I also changed "pretentious" to "large." Suggest removal of (bias) unless someone has other issues. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 4.131.134.162 (talk) 00:27, 10 January 2007 (UTC).
Doesn't really seem to be that special to me. A mall's a mall. I don't see what all the fuss is about.
Calling it a lifestyle center doesn't exactly seem neutral to me. If you eve been there...it's just a mall. I'm changing it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.243.65.187 (talk) 03:09, 22 January 2008 (UTC)
Urban legend
[edit]"In the Bloomingdale's Home Store freight elevator, there exists an urban legend where, supposedly, the ghosts of two busboys haunt the corresponding corridors and elevator. While never confirmed, legend tells that in 1987 two busboys working for the mall murdered a hot dog stand employee by throwing him into the elevator shaft and eventually crushing him to death.
The busboys were said to have committed suicide in the same elevator with a semiautomatic pistol. The legend states that if one goes into the freight elevator alone in the early hours of the morning, one can hear the sadistic laughs of the two busboys or, upon descending to the first floor, can hear the bones crunching and horrifying screams of the hot dog stand employee." —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.3.80.122 (talk) 18:47, 13 July 2009 (UTC)
An urban legend section is added periodically about the ghosts of two busboys. This needs a reference from a reliable source before it is added to this article. Thanks, Alanraywiki (talk) 18:31, 13 July 2009 (UTC)
J.C. Penny
[edit]I head that some people were upset with Fashion Island when J.C.Penny moved out. They said that Fashion Island felt that J.C. Penny wasn't "upscale enough" and didn't fit with the image they wanted, and so pressured that store to move out of the mall. Some say the store was "kicked out". If there is anything to this, perhaps it could be covered in this article? SlowJog (talk) 16:26, 15 December 2010 (UTC)
