I feel like this shouldn't be listed as "Farnborough, London" it's quite rural this sounds at first urban. I know it's in the county of Greater London but it's post town is Orpington, Kent which is not it's present County. May I suggest "Farnborough, Orpington" this is correct post town plus correct area in regards to UK parliament area (Orpington (UK Parliament constituency)), plus it sounds not so urban.

I disagree now, the current title is correct.Carlwev (talk) 13:13, 23 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

There is a convention within UK articles that where disambiguation is needed, the article is called location, county; ie "Farnborough, London". postal counties are unrelated to the administration of the district. The post office did not adjust them when the boundaries were changed in 1965; and 'counties' were abolished for postal purposes in 1996. Kbthompson (talk) 14:56, 23 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The title needs to be changed to Farnborough, Kent. This what the place is called. The reason there are fewer than 30 viewers for this page entry is that no-one recognizes 'Farnborough, London'; it does not exist as a description for the village or as a title in use for anything, anywhere. The argument by Carlwev is not in fact correct. There is no disambiguation needed here; Farnborough, Kent is the common name. A google search for 'Farnborough, London' provides one result- this page! The rest of the results provide links to Farnborough Hampshire. Now that is ambiguous: A google search for 'Farnborugh, Kent' results in literally hundreds of links to things about the place, history, businesses and society of Farnborough, Kent. That is not ambiguous.

That postal counties were abolished in 1996 is not relevant, all post and business references are for Farnborough, Kent and remain so.

Equally Farnborough is not a suburban development. It is a village, as described by the Village Society, Council designations, and village signs.

The alternative if this will not be changed is to set up a separate page for Farnborough, Kent. — Preceding unsigned comment added by IanDHanson (talkcontribs) 19:03, 18 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Yes. As a former resident: Farnborough, Kent, is the postal address—or Farnborough, Orpington, Kent, for when people confused it with the bigger Hants one. I've never seen it linked to London before. Rothorpe (talk) 19:21, 18 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, Britain's botched-up county nomenclature strikes again. For administrative purposes Farnborough is part of Greater London, and has been since 1965. However, these new 'counties' were never supposed to be eradicate the historic counties as geographic, cultural entities. Hence it also lies in Kent (as I'm sure most residents there would agree). The failure of successive government to make this distinction clear has resulted in the complete confusion that now reigns on the matter (though the current government has made some belated attempts in this direction: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/celebrating-the-historic-counties-of-england/celebrating-the-historic-counties-of-england).WisDom-UK (talk) 21:59, 8 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
