Cleanup
[edit]I am cleaning up some insertions made in the summer of 2007 by User:Gbellocchi that seem to have been lifted from a hobbyist partisan of Orvieto-as-Fanum-Voltumnae on the Internet, Francesco Scanagatta. I have now credited Scanagatta in a footnote. -Wetman (talk) 08:01, 9 July 2008 (UTC)
- "The political relevance of such meetings was remarked by the election of a head under the rule of primus inter pares and defined praetor Etruriae in Latin inscriptions of the Roman imperial period." Scanagatta's musings. How would Roman inscriptions of the Imperial age mark the "political relevance" of Etruscan meetings? Hocus pocus?
- http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/6/68/Fanum_repubblica.pdf is a 404 dead end
- (see Renzo Allegri, Il Resto del Carlino, February 14, 2000 http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/5/50/Anni_fa.pdf). An irrelevant on-line news link and another 404 dead end.
- " New light is being brought into this area by British and Danish studies (Francesco Barbano, Il Messaggero, October 11, 2007 http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/6/6b/Archeologia.pdf)." Another 404 dead end.
- More confusing to the Wikipedia reader is the switch made of Mario Signorelli's source from the forger Annio da Viterbo to a "Father Ennio of Viterbo, a monk of the 17th century who devoted his life to collecting legends and traditions ascribed to the Etruscans (see Renzo Allegri, Il Resto del Carlino, February 14, 2000 [5])." Renzo Allegri, Il Resto del Carlino, if you google it, is a document concerning Mother Teresa. Gbellocchi's talkpage is not encouraging. --Wetman (talk) 08:01, 9 July 2008 (UTC)
