[edit]"an edition based on the Sidney Shapiro translation in 1972 under the English title Rickshaw Boy"
Is this verifiable? Rickshaw boy is actually the English title of Lao She's Luotuo Xiangzi

- "This begins this quintessentially Chinese story, although the work was written in English by Ba Jin."
But this cannot be correct since this was written originally in Chinese and the English versions are translations done by third parties. Other sources identify English versions as translations. WhisperToMe (talk) 19:46, 16 April 2013 (UTC)
Pinyin vs. Wade-Giles
[edit]I changed "Pa Chin" to "Ba Jin" in the lede, but hesitate to change the rest of the article from WG without discussion. The earlier translation used WG. It would be a hassle to change the rest of the article, but isn't it Wikipedia policy to use pinyin? ch (talk) 15:41, 3 April 2014 (UTC)
- I do not think the rest of the article needs to be changed, but I believe there should be more of a clear reference to the "Pa Chin" pronunciation in the lead. Many people that look for this book will find mostly "Pa Chin" as the spelling, and a mention of that in the lead would serve to clarify that confusion.--Leegend4 (talk) 17:52, 24 September 2020 (UTC)

Opinions on the quality of the translation
[edit]I'd like to do more research to find how academic authors feel about the translations. I added one academic's opinion, but I'm sure there are others... WhisperToMe (talk) 02:47, 6 October 2024 (UTC)
