The Plot Section Needs Edits

[edit]
  • POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT
  • Disclaimer - I don't mean to be overly critical to the Original Poster. Reading The Plot section for me was akin to visiting Los Angels by following a map of Chicago.

I watched this movie last night, so was inspired to wikipedia it. Whomever wrote "The Plot" section seems to have left out or incorrectly reported certain elements enough so that this section deserves a rewrite or major editing.

I am happy to rewrite it myself, when I have time but wanted to point out a few of the challenges before I get to it.

  • The story has an evolving theme about Fallen Angels and the word angel is only mentioned once about a statue, which has very little to do with the over all angelic subplot.
  • Description of the character Sophia Bliss, played by Joely Richardson is "a grey-haired religious scholar teacher", which is redundant "scholar teacher" and incorrect. She is a magnificent platinum blonde [1]
  • The original author of The Plot seems to just pick random scenes without giving a clear focus of main conflict of the entire movie, which revolves around the Choice all angels were forced to make after Lucifer's Rebellion and some angles opted NOT to make, thus were forced out of heaven onto earth.
  • The backstory of the leading male role, Daniel Grigori, is a very specific element to the Fallen's plight isn't referenced either.
  • The love story of The Plot spans lifetimes, which is referenced in the movie as memories, very old photographs and even facial recognition software. None of this is included in The Plot. The word "love" or "Love" isn't even in The Plot.
  • Some of the descriptions in The Plot lead me to believe the Original Poster didn't understand the movie or perhaps has translated his version of The Plot from another language ie. "stick of fire" was an impromptu torch, "Penn, who has somewhat bonded with Todd" was actually infatuated with and starting to fall in love with Todd, "The two instantly bond" (referencing Penn) is inaccurate, their initial encounter is awkward, intrusive and even includes an apology from Penn to Luce.
  • The entire "paragraph" about "the fight" leaves out at least one major aspect and includes assumptions which aren't revealed in the movie. From the fight the viewer discovers that Molly has a hostile attitude toward Luce throughout the movie. This is the initial scene to this subplot/character development.
  • Satan/Lucifer is a significant element of the backstory of these particular angels. He represents a serious threat to the main character and the through-lifetimes love story and is never mentioned in The Plot.
  • The last "paragraph" of The Plot references a party in the movie which was about the halfway point of the story. I don't know if the Original Poster just gave up writing the plot or in his mind this was the last relevant part of the story to share in The Plot.

I realize some of my critiques don't necessarily have to be included in a decent plot description to satisfy a The Plot section for any given movie. The abovementioned is just to give context to my overall impression The Plot was poorly written or perhaps even misunderstood or mistranslated by the original poster. If it had been easier to just rewrite the plot as opposed to outlining some of its significant flaws, I would have done so.

@Zerostatetechnologies: Thanks for the suggestions!
I am interested in rewriting the plot and making it a lot shorter and more concise, as it is currently very long for a typical movie summary. Would you mind if I try to compress the plot, keeping your suggestions in mind? If no response is given, I will go ahead and compress the plot.
Thanks again for the suggestions!

@Zerostatetechnologies: I have just drastically compressed the plot summary (in this edit). I understand that I have probably removed many important details and possibly left in unimportant details. Therefore, if you can help me figure out what I did wrong and what I can do to improve the plot summary, I would greatly appreciate that! Thanks!
