CorenSearchBot is in error. The content of this page was taken pretty much verbatim from the USDA Deschutes National Forest web site that was cited as a reference. If it is also found on other web sites (i.e. VisitUSA) it's probably because they used the same USDA source. They shouldn't be able to take it from the USDA and copyright it then prevent me or anyone from posting it on Wikipedia IMO. — Preceding unsigned comment added by LocalGirl (talk • contribs) 05:17, 10 September 2014 (UTC)
- Hmm, I should have read this before editing - I'd have left a different edit summary, sorry about that! I have no idea what the copyright status of the material is - if it's taken straight from the book cited then it possibly belongs to that author. And yes, other pages should not, but very often do, copy free content and then put a copyright tag on it. In any case, even if it is free content, I'm afraid you can't just copy it into Wikipedia, as that is WP:PLAGIARISM – it needs proper attribution, as explained on that page. My personal take is that its both safer and easier to just rewrite the stuff in your own words; at least the bot won't bother you then. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 18:50, 26 September 2014 (UTC)
