Split

[edit]

A request to explain why I think this dab page should be split has been placed on my talk page.

This dab page contains both standard dab content and human name content. It is now standard practice to split human name content (surname, given name) to a separate article so that a treatment of the history and prevalence of the name can be authored in an encyclopedic manner. Such splits come under the auspices of Wikipedia:WikiProject Anthroponymy.

What would the two pages be named? Pdfpdf (talk) 11:26, 1 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The dab would remain at Fairburn, the new page would be named Fairburn (name). --User:Ceyockey (talk to me) 11:46, 1 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Uh huh. Makes sense. But, had you noticed that Fairbairn is a hndis? It seems that there's a certain amount of inconsistency. Is there a policy/plan for consistency? Pdfpdf (talk) 12:14, 1 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I just looked at the present version (211435977) and it is not tagged with {{hndis}}; it is a surname page, albeit of the list-type. --User:Ceyockey (talk to me) 22:51, 1 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, to be precise, you are completely correct. viz:
{{surname}}<!-- It does not help to add disambig or hndis tags where the page only contains people who share a surname -->
But I think you've missed my point. Try again:
