Lead-in to history
[edit]An editor has placed a long lead in to the paper's history, germane to Fairbanks, but irrelevant to the town. It can be easily summarized as "started a paper where a trading post existed the year before" or somesuch. A lengthy history is distracting to the article and quite unnecessary. Interested readers can link to the article on Fairbanks. Distracts from WP:TOPIC. Student7 (talk) 22:48, 16 April 2009 (UTC)
- I disagree. The information doesn't go into too much depth and is necessary to establish context for why the newspaper was founded at that particular time. The economy of the area inherently affects the newspaper, as demonstrated by later sections detailing the growth and expansion of the paper. I agree that you don't want to go into too much detail, though. One paragraph is enough. Anything more would be starting to get off topic. JKBrooks85 (talk) 23:09, 16 April 2009 (UTC)
Commendation
[edit]Article really looks good. I'm assuming that you are aiming at review and maybe GA? Student7 (talk) 12:05, 18 April 2009 (UTC)
- That's the goal. I spent some time accumulating sources, and I'm not quite through running that stack through the sausage grinder and into the article. Some more pictures would be a big help if you can think of any that are relevant. JKBrooks85 (talk) 12:52, 18 April 2009 (UTC)

GA concerns
[edit]I am concerned that this article no longer meets the good article criteria. Some of my concerns are below:
- There is a yellow "repeats lead" banner in the article, placed in October 2023, which needs to be resolved.
- There is not much post-2016 information. This should be expanded upon
Is anyone willing to address teh above concerns, or should this go to WP:GAR? Z1720 (talk) 02:55, 18 November 2024 (UTC)
