Requested move
[edit]I have requested that the name of this article be changed from "Fish processing vessel" to the more usual "Factory ship". --Geronimo20 (talk) 21:04, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
- Comment Google overwhelmingly supports the proposed move - there are 2,320 hits for "fish processing vessel" and 65,700 for "factory ship". 199.125.109.99 (talk) 02:11, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
Should "overfishing" be in here as a subsection?
[edit]Should "overfishing" be in here as a subsection? Or should it just be a link to a different topic? -- Kschang77 (talk) 19:51, 17 February 2011 (UTC)
- Yes, I think the section certainly belongs here. If it is not controlled carefully, heavy industrial-scale fishing by factory ships can easily result in serious overfishing. However, the section could be rewritten to keep a better focus on how factory ships relate to overfishing. --Epipelagic (talk) 22:23, 17 February 2011 (UTC)
- I disagree. This seems like an attempt to blacken commercial fishing generally. Moreover, the page is about factory ships, not fishing practises, so it's misplaced at best. TREKphiler any time you're ready, Uhura 11:52, 20 June 2011 (UTC)
Where she blows?
[edit]They're not common anymore, but surely mention of whale factory ships is appropriate? TREKphiler any time you're ready, Uhura 11:52, 20 June 2011 (UTC)

Overfishing section not very relevant the topic of the article
[edit]The section titled "Overfishing" is lacking relevance to the article. It talks about overfishing in general, but it's content is not very relevant to factory ships. The section should be rewritten to be relevant to factory ships (e.g. it could focus on how factory ships facilitate overfishing), or it should be removed. -Ireadandcheck (talk) 18:20, 29 December 2017 (UTC)
