conversion to sortable table
The list has been converted to a table, with the end goal being to allow the user to sort each column. The conversion was done in a automated fashion, with a bit of manual cleanup afterwards; as a result there may be minor transformation errors. The sorting doesnt currently work because the JavaScript doesnt like the table; my guess is that this is due to the missing cells on some rows. John Vandenberg 02:06, 13 August 2007 (UTC)
date column
As the FAC numbers were not issued chronologically, I think it would be useful to have a date column, so the catalogue can be sorted chronologically. John Vandenberg 00:57, 16 August 2007 (UTC)
- The problem with adding a date column is that Factory's "official" and/or "intended" release dates do not reflect the actual release dates. Example 1: FAC 2, Factory date 1/79, actual date 12/78. This is a consistent problem throughout the catalogue, with many being several months apart in date timings. (And even crossing year designations, as seen on FAC 2 and others.) Thus, one would need to add two date columns: 1 for Factory's claimed date of release, 1 for actual date of release. Even so, these will always be debatable. Holdnyc 18:13, 16 August 2007 (UTC)
- Adding two columns sounds like a good idea. We can mark debatable actual dates of release with a note to provide further information as required. John Vandenberg 22:37, 17 August 2007 (UTC)
- (six years later) I'll add at least the one date column. Frank Brinkhuis' discographies are a pretty solid source for this sort of detail - David Gerard (talk) 15:58, 25 August 2013 (UTC)
FAC 251
The Factory, owned by Peter Hook. I think he just took the number. OTOH, I'd say he's Factory enough that counts! - David Gerard (talk) 11:48, 5 July 2010 (UTC)
- OK, I'm talking rubbish - a moment's research shows the current FAC251 is actually in the same building - David Gerard (talk) 11:52, 5 July 2010 (UTC)
FAC 630
This is odd, is this supposed to be here? TorontonianOnlines (talk) 05:32, 17 August 2011 (UTC) Did Factory Records invent Doctor Martens boots ? ```````````````````````````````````````````````` — Preceding unsigned comment added by 116.251.169.39 (talk) 09:42, 12 June 2013 (UTC)
Images removed
In this edit, the following three images were removed. I won't contest this, as it is probably only David and I likely to participate in a discussion now about it, but I do feel some images are useful.

- I saw the third one actually overlapped the table (at least on my laptop, 1366px wide) and then realised these probably fall afoul of the rules on fair use images, as they're basically just decorative. Nice as they are. Specifically WP:NFC#Unacceptable_use -> Images -> 2. "An album cover as part of a discography, as per the above." Their presence here isn't for critical commentary. I suppose we could add some - David Gerard (talk) 07:48, 8 September 2013 (UTC)
- BTW, get Shadowplayers, it's great - David Gerard (talk) 07:49, 8 September 2013 (UTC)
The Factory numbering system
This section is basically rambling OR. OTOH, I've seen similar rambling in sources (none of which I have to hand) that it'd be worth making it at least sourced rambling, so I wouldn't just zap it - anyone got similar conveniently to hand? - David Gerard (talk) 07:55, 8 September 2013 (UTC)
No hyphens
I've started removing the hyphens from the FAC numbers in the article and table because FAC numbers didn't have hyphens. It wasn't FAC-nnn, it was FAC nnn (with FAC-2 being the only hyphenated exception), as many album covers and sources show. If somebody likes to give me a hand, please do so. It's a rather boring job and there are many, many hyphens to remove. Thanks, Yintan 08:32, 21 November 2016 (UTC)
