This page should not be speedily deleted because, contrary to former reports, I believe that this player has had a wholly notable career. He has indeed signed and played for clubs at a professional level, having signed terms at Santos Laguna and Tigres UANL in Mexico, and played for Tigres Premier which is a professional club. Tavano has appeared at multiple FIFA-sanctioned tournaments including the FIFA Club World Cup three times. In addition I believe that the description of the player is sufficiently detailed to qualify as an above-average Wikipedia article, along with references. Finally, while Auckland City may not technically qualify as a 'professional club', they are by no means amateur - playing at the club constitutes as a full time job for most players, and Auckland are by far the most successful and talented team in their confederation. Thanks! --Quazarrr (talk) 22:03, 17 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
It is quite clear that Tavano fails WP:NFOOTY. It doesn't matter that he was with Tigres if he didn't play for their first team and it doesn't matter if Auckland City act like a professional club, the player needs to play in a professional league. You only possible saving grace for this player would be around the Club World Cup and if they meet the WP:GNG requirements. NZFC(talk)22:54, 17 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Hey there, Tavano became a bit of a cult hero in Mexico as a result of this tournament (as Emiliano Tade did in Argentina) so he had a lot of media coverage and notability, enough so that I feel he would certainly qualify for WP:GNG. Here are some in-depth articles devoted to Tavano, from some of the most significant outlets in Mexican and world football: [1][2][3][4] In addition, Tavano has Spanish and Italian pages up. Not sure if rules are different in those languages.Quazarrr (talk) 02:37, 18 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
