Keeping modem connected
[edit]I used to run a BBS in mid-90s and recall a fundamental feature offered by the FOSSIL driver was to allow the modem to remain connected (presumably because the serial port was kept open by the driver?) across switching of BBS software. For instance, I recall using FrontDoor to take the connection and then determining whether to run BlueWave for FidoNET exchange or RemoteAccess for the BBS user software. Without BNU, the connection would drop when FrontDoor exited.
Is that recollection correct? If so, is this worth mentioning either in this page or in BNU’s? 2A00:23C7:85A1:2E01:4DEA:9E0F:2FDA:2663 (talk) 09:36, 21 May 2022 (UTC)
