Championships names
[edit]FIS names its ski championships in the following format: FIS (discipline) World Ski Championships (year). I think Wikipedia should respect the official names, so this article's name should be FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2007.--Nitsansh 22:00, 4 February 2007 (UTC)
Clarity issue
[edit]The problem with that is most people look at items as year first, then the championship name for clarity reasons. You don't see Winter Olympics of 2006 or World Series of 1993 as examples becasue they are called the 2006 Winter Olympics or 1993 World Series as examples. I disagree with that. Chris 13:23, 5 February 2007 (UTC)
- Different governing bodies have different name policies. In the case of the Olympics, the official name never include the year nor the term "summer", but instead the serial number. --Nitsansh 19:13, 5 February 2007 (UTC)
What is better?
[edit]Design 1:
Medal | Athlete | Time |
Gold | ||
Silver | ||
Bronze |
Design 2:
Medal | Name | Nation | Time | Behind |
---|---|---|---|---|
Design 3:
Medal | Athlete | Time |

I will stay with design #1. This is the standard used for the Winter Olympics and I prefer we stay with this format. Chris 14:41, 9 February 2007 (UTC)
- Now User:Brandenburg has changed some positions of the "nationality", and in my opinion it doesn't look better. I agre, stick with #1. --Pudeo (Talk) 12:27, 24 February 2007 (UTC)
- The compromise that is shown actually looks good and more organized. Now we will see how this comes out when the nordic combined team event happens tomorrow. Chris 17:43, 24 February 2007 (UTC)
Suggestion
[edit]On times: I think the best idea would be to do mass finishes as "+0.1, +0.2" etc., while time trials (of which there is only two...*groan*) should have the time actually achieved. Just a thought, I think this would better convey the nature of each event. Sam Vimes | Address me 22:58, 24 February 2007 (UTC)
- I have seem times similar to that in Formula One races as mentioned by Sam, but I have seen the times listed in athletics event where all of the times are recorded. For historical consistency, I think it would be best to keep the times as is on all events since they are shown that way on books I have seen of the Olympics. Chris 00:17, 25 February 2007 (UTC)
Chronological order, anyone?
[edit]I suggest we list the events in the order they occur(red); as of this writing, the order is non-chronological. Any comments? --Wernher 22:48, 3 March 2007 (UTC)
- In most books I have seen on events like this, they are generally done shortest individual distance to longest team distance. To maintain consistency, I recommend it stays in non-chronological order. Chris 23:45, 3 March 2007 (UTC)
