Republic of Macedonia
[edit]Maybe this article should be moved to Republic of Macedonia, as it reads on the template? I know FYROM is EBU:s official name, but for God's sake, we don't call countries "Chinese Taipei", so why all this insisting of using "FYROM"? If I was Macedonian, I'd not be happy for that.Eurowizion 19:49, 10 July 2007 (UTC)
- Please take a look at WP:MOSMAC. This article is about Eurovision, so the Eurovision convention regarding the country's name should be used. And for the record, I am Macedonian. ·ΚέκρωΨ· 20:47, 10 July 2007 (UTC)
- Well, the article has to follow those rules so OK.--Eurowizion 11:07, 11 July 2007 (UTC)
- tha article about macedonia is called Republic of Macedonia, not F.Y.R. Macedonia.--62.162.76.186 (talk) 07:13, 16 August 2008 (UTC)
- The Republic of Macedonia does not take part in the contest, FYR Macedonia does. Grk1011/Stephen (talk) 01:29, 6 February 2009 (UTC)
- You comment is totally ridiculous. It's like saying the Republique Française does not take part in the contest, France does. Faezdel (talk) 00:26, 18 March 2013 (UTC)

Accroding UN and other International Organisations, the official name is Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) like USA (United States of America) and in every contest we have USA and not America — Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.167.180.191 (talk) 17:45, 1 July 2013 (UTC)
- However the organisation called Wikipedia does not call it the Former Yugoslav yadah yadah..., and calls it Macedonia. WP:MOSMAC. -- [[ axg // ✉ ]] 18:04, 1 July 2013 (UTC)
Wikipedia is an Encyclopedia and uses the Global Official names of the countries. Accroding to United Nations (UN)the name is FYROM (all the countries have accept it, including FYROM)

Macedonia request for comment
[edit]The Centralized discussion set up to decide on a comprehensive naming convention about Macedonia-related naming practices is now inviting comments on a number of competing proposals from the community. Please register your opinions on the RfC subpages 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5. (Pages 2 and 4 deal with the conventions most directly affecting this article.)

Move request
[edit]I see J Delanoy is moving these as I speak. Even so, this same issue is being discussed at length on Talk:Macedonia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2008. Even if there is some reason (and I can't imagine what it would be) to treat them differently, please discuss there. Septentrionalis PMAnderson 21:02, 13 July 2009 (UTC)
1996 pre-qualifying round participation not listed
[edit]Why isn't it listed on the Contestants list? Isn't the pre-qualifying round similar to the Semi-final round?
- Since Macedonia did hold a national selection event and submitted a song entry that year then I think that we should just mention it here. But we could leave a note at the bottom that it didn't qualify for the finals. It still counts as a participation because it was judged by the national jury.Bleubeatle (talk) 10:26, 5 June 2012 (UTC)

North Macedonia?
[edit]The country just got renamed to North Macedonia. I don't know if there's an official notice as to what it's going to be referred as in Eurovision, but I suspect we should rename the page. JorWat (talk) 13:06, 13 February 2019 (UTC)
