Why the Futurama redirect?

The article Hubert J. Farnsworth doesn't have a section called Inventions. I was looking for the F-ray scientific hoax. A few years or decades after X-rays were discovered, a paper was published detailing the discovery of yet another new type or radiation. The paper hadn't been peer reviewed, and nobody could replicate the results. That's all I can remember about the story.
