Behavioral Ecology 2022 Edits - Reni A

[edit]

For this article, I took the first paragraph from discovery and taxonomy and put it in the introduction because it flowed better. I changed the discovery and taxonomy section to habitat and distribution. Next, I split the new section into two different sections because the infromation presented in the last two paragraphs aligns more with population structure, speciation, and phylogeny. I changed the section header of “range” to “home range and territoriality”. Within this section I also took out the phrases that were in the parentheses because I don’t think they served much purpose due to their meaning not being explained. I changed the title of “size and description” to just “description” and changed the order of a couple sections so that the article flowed in a more organized manner. I changed the header title of breeding and development to reproduction and life cycle then seperated the paragraphs within that section into that header and physiology. I took out the headings that were very specific to the topic being discussed and did not align very well to the suggested sub-headings for this section. They made it harder to read because I didn’t truly know what section they fell under. I replaced them or outright deleted them depending on the section. Behavioral Ecology Edit

[edit]

This article is very well done and aesthetically pleasing. The information is organized very well, with lots of pictures that correspond well with the text. The information under the section “Habitat and Distribution” seemed like it would fit better under the “Description” section, so I moved it up there. The text was discussing past migration patterns and other related species, so I thought “description” would be a better place for it. There was not too much information about the actual habitat that the salamander lives in, so I added a bit of information under the “Habitat and Distribution” header. I also read through the entire article and fixed grammar and spelling errors to make the paper flow better. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.252.230.141 (talk) 00:23, 21 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Overall, this was a very well done article. There were no grammatical errors that I noticed and everything was well cited. There were a couple organizational errors that I fixed. First, I moved habitat information from the general description category to the habitat category. Then, there were some repeat sentences about genus information that I removed and made sure the original inofrmation was in the Phylogeny category. I also created a sub heading for Paedomorphosis, which had a considerable amount of information to streamline the organization of the article and make all the information easy to locate. Peer Edit

[edit]

I removed some unnecessary phrases that made the article feel less scientific and more informal. I made sentences more stating facts rather than referring to their discovery, etc. I moved the section about development above that of paedomorphosis because I felt as though chronologically that made more sense. There were some words randomly linked throughout the article, such as liver, spleen, thyroid, etc. not specific to the frog, so I unlinked those so they wouldn’t distract from the more significant things linked throughout. Overall, I thought this was a really well written article! My changes were minor, as the people before me did a great job restructuring and editing!
