Some experts on film say that Kubrick actually did not finish the shooting, but died near the end, and that Pollack brought the film to completion.
If it's going back into the article, the "experts" should be identified and linked to the article
Language
What is the language sung during the orgy? -- Error 00:40, 10 May 2004 (UTC)
- IMDBThe music during the ceremony at the masked ball is a fragment of an Orthodox mass played backwards; the priest is singing in Romanian. -- Error 01:00, 10 May 2004 (UTC)
The track with the backward sampling is "Masked Ball". This is heard while Red Cloak ambulates with his censer.
The non-backward music, "Migrations", originally contained chants from (unknowingly to Pook) the Bhagavad Gita. The original version was present in initial runs in theatres and the soundtrack CD. I believe some people took offense and this was changed. The DVD and VHS versions have the changed version. I don't know if this change was applied to later pressings of the CD. -- Johnwhite79 14 May 2005
Id/Shadow
can the Id and the Shadow be correlated as closely as the author suggests? EWS, surely, is Freudian. The symbols are Freudian, Schnitzler was a Freudian...
Use of red/blue
I can't find my notepads at the moment, so I can't see where I noted them, but there's an extensive and obviously deliberate usage of red and blue during the film (of particular note is the marijuana-enhanced argument near the beginning). Near the final scene, there's quite a bit of purple. Someone more articulate than myself should note this in the article.
Music
In the music section someone should add that the piece with the monotonous (which I mean in the best possible way) pounding of a single note, used exensively in the film, is a work composed by Gyorgi Ligeti (sp?). I'd do it, but I'm new and don't know the proper rules and etiquette, not to mention procedurally how it is properly done.--MJ
- MJ: Don't be afraid to add. :) György Ligeti's name spelling is corrected and notation on the piece's performance indication is now added. -- Johnwhite79 - 7 July 2005
There are actually three different notes (I think D, D#, and F) going on in that piece, which are played at a number of different octaves... --24.131.18.48 23:31, 25 July 2005 (UTC)
Interpretation
I think maybe that there is too much emphasis on psychological interpretations of the film, and some sumation of Kreider's very convincing reading of the film as a critique of consumerism is needed (the interpretation is linked). The Jungian interpretation is, I feel, far too positivist about the film's meaning (Kubrick wasn't known for his hopeful vision of the human situation) and therefore a precis of Kreider's might be necessary. nudie pic
I think this is a great screenshot of the movie. I can't see why a screen cap of a movie would be deleted when it's already on the server. Honestly, I don't understand.--Muchosucko 09:32, 18 August 2005 (UTC)
- (1) Since nudity offends some people there's no point in it unless there's a good reason. But more importantly...
- (2) This is not a screenshot from Eyes Wide Shut!!!
