"when he was in jail, in Iran" or in Iraq? In 1935, he left Erbil and went to Baghdad. It seems that in 1938 he was in Baghdad, studying in the university [1]. Also, in Iraq, "reqib" means Gaurdian (or jailkeeper). But, in Iran, it doesn't have that meaning. Bidabadi 15:58, 15 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Because there wasn't any citation for being in jail in Iran, I deleted it. Bidabadi 10:00, 2 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Keyxusrew

[edit]

Keyxusrew is translated to english as Cyrus. This is however wron as Keyxusrew i Cyaxares the Median king. This also makes more sence as the poem goes we are the childern of the Medes and Keyxusrew (Cyaxares, the Median king) —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 217.211.101.234 (talk) 12:10, 10 March 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Kai Khosrow in Shahnameh , correlates more with Cyrus the great , and being son of Media and historic greater Iran (Cyrus) , make more sense , because both dynasties had a brilliant history . Until now , there was no correlation between Cyaxares and Kai Khosrow .--Alborz Fallah (talk) 14:57, 23 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

This is simply wrong! Stop trying to distort wikipedia.
"Almost all speakers of the Zaza language consider themselves as Kurds and they are often counted as such by international statistics and surveys as part of the Kurdish people"(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zaza_people).
You Turks are so pathetic. Always the same. How can you be so hostile against Kurds? Reqib (talk) 20:21, 25 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

IPA phonetic

[edit]

Would someone be able to add the IPA phonetic pronunciation of the name? Thank you — Sasuke Sarutobi (talk) 14:36, 7 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

"Lekî dialect"

[edit]

Since when became Laki dialect, a dialect of Luri language Kurdish? I will remove "Lekî dialect" from the article. Beshogur (talk) 17:55, 2 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Linguistically, Laki is not a dialect of Luri. It is clear from the linguistic litterature that Laki is a Northwestern Iranic language, while Luri is a Southwestern Iranic language. More precisely, Laki is a Southern Kurdish language which means that it is in family with the Kurdish dialects spoken in Ilam and Kermanshah provinces in Iran. Actually among the southern kurdish dialects, Laki is the most "kurdish" one (linguistically) since it's Ergative in the past tense, like Central (Sorani) and Northern (Kurmanji) kurdish. Most other southern kurdish dialects are non-ergative like Luri and farsi. Ergativity is a unique feature of the kurdish language as almost no other Iranic (or even Indo-European) languages are ergative.

It happens that linguistics and ethnic/national identity doesn't always go hand-in-hand. French speakers in France and Belgium, for example, do not identify as one. Same goes with Laks. Those that live in Ilam and Kermanshah sometimes identify as Kurds, those that live in Luristan sometimes identify as Lurs, others identify just as "Laks". My comment above is mostly about linguistics, not about their identity. 38.104.158.162 (talk) 07:03, 21 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Does Reqip means Enemy?

[edit]

Really? Reqip refers to the guard in the jail. Beshogur (talk) 13:32, 3 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
