Is anyone else troubled by the fact that in the treatment given here, the velocity of the wave is complex? That seems fine for a senior physics or engineering text, but might lead to confusion in an encyclopedia article. Perhaps we should reformulate/redescribe in terms of a real velocity. The electric field can be left complex; that's easy enough to explain.--Srleffler 04:50, 13 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Molar Extinciton Coefficient

[edit]

In biochemistry, the presence of Trp, Tyr, and Phe influence fluorescense of a solution containing proteins. Apparently, there is an overlap in terms... What's a good solution? neffk 19:08, 31 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Generally each distinct thing gets its own article, regardless of overlapping terms. In this case, you're probably looking for Molar extinction coefficient, which redirects to Molar absorptivity.--Srleffler 22:09, 31 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
