Commonly used methods?
[edit]Are there any uncommonly used methods of artificial transection? I re-arranged the sentence "Commonly used methods of transection are..." to put the subject, transection, at the front. To simplify it I took out "commonly used" in favour of "methods... include". It's arguable that the list is not exhaustive and the ones mentioned are the commonest or easiest. I added "artificial" since the list did not include, e.g., viral infection.
Finally, I unravelled the string "artificial transection methods" into "Methods of artificial transection" to put the most meaningful words at the end of the phrase where they are easier to remember. The first pattern requires the reader to hold "artificial" and "transection" in mind, then apply them to methods, then go on. The second pattern lets the reader comprehend the two halves of the phrase in order. --Monado (talk) 16:37, 13 May 2009 (UTC)
Plasmids?
[edit]Should not Plasmids be mentioned somewhere within this article? They link to the transformation page, so I would assume they are some sort of Exogenous DNA. I don't know enough about the subject to write about them myself. Lee (talk) 00:42, 4 October 2011 (UTC)
Article on Exogenous DNA or Transformation?
[edit]I came here wanting to understand Exogenous DNA better. I was particularly interested in understanding the origins of Exogenous DNA, i.e. the mechanisms that produce Exogenous DNA. This article appears to primarily discuss Transformation and how Exogenous DNA has a role in Transformation. It does not discuss Exogenous DNA as a separate topic from Transformation. I will do other research to find out more about the article's intended topic. If I can find any, I will try and update the article, but I am not an expert on the matter, only curious.
