On the Deep Purple album Made in Japan, at the beginning of the song "The Mule", someone (probably Ian Gillan) is heard talking to a sound technician
- "Yeah, everything up here, please. And a bit more monitor if you got it. Ah?"
- "...everything louder than everything else?"
- "Yeah, can we have everything louder than everything else? Right."
...which may be the origin of the phrase.
- ..which is the origin of the phrase. Ever since MiJ the phrase has been used to snub off stuck up stage monitor mixers, slower-than-a-tortoise FOH mixers, et cetera, et cetera. --Tirolion 13:41, 26 December 2006 (UTC)
- So really the quote is from a roadie, not Gillan? --C Hawke 13:07, 28 June 2007 (UTC)
It was Jon Lord, actually, who can just be heard saying it - this is then relayed by Ian Gillan. Alister, UK
